... a very disturbing set of thoughts, in fact, when you think about their creative faculties:

    It's true!

Pixar is vastly superior to Dreamworks in every way.

Do you think Dreamworks needs to revamp their arts department?

I don't think it matters. As long as they have a good story. As for anything more recent then...umm...Toy Story, I have no idea about any of those movies. I think I might have watched The Incredibles on TV., but I am sure I was drinking, because all I remember is something about some secret island.

    Dude, the Incredibles kicks ass.

If only for that spliced clip of Frozone/Pulp Fiction that's floating around on youtube... Genius!

Anyway, everyone knows Pixar is superior.

    I will second that one.
I generally don't like movies likes these but I enjoyed The Incredibles.
It had a nice adult humour about it that I enjoyed.

Incredibles definitely ranks up their with some of the best Pixar has put out. Finding Nemo will always be my favorite though.

I'll give you a third on it...

Have you guys noticed that when you're younger and you watch things like this it looks awesome and whatnot in the innocent category....but when you get older...you start to find out disturbing and perverted things you never noticed before? *read between the lines* It's just one of those things that pass through your mind...making you think

"these people are more perverted than I thought.." It kinda ruins the innocence...^o^

    What's your point?

They stick to the formula because the formula ing works.

Life's too short for Pixar and Dreamworks. See Fantasia.

It's pretty much why I don't watch Dreamworks films anymore.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I freakin' loved Shrek. 'Twas awesome.

.. And then they churned out another animal movie. And then another one. And another one. And another one. And yet another one.

It's gotten to the point where it's so cookie-cutter, it's painful. Oh, what's that? Dreamworks released yet ANOTHER animal film? Awww, isn't that adorable.

    Yawn.

    Fair enough.
It is a bit much I can think too, repetitive. But enjoyed a few of them though.

well I like viewing older disney and some dreamworks films to understand recurring themes and how they may fit in with society's values and such.

During the "renaissance" of disney films werent just "meant" or targeted toward younger children and had some appeal to a older audience (the hunchback of notre dame). Some of them invoke some morality and values that require indepth discussions. I.E. The idea of the provincial hometown of belle from beauty and the beast. Although much of it is of the same ideas regarding individualism and are merely packaged differently in the many films. But that is for another conversation.

The more recent animated films dont seem to intent on redesigning various older tales ala recreating little mermaid, to some extent lion king, aladdin, etc. I rather liked when that what was done.

Prince of egypt is a well acclaimed dreamworks picture.

Although personally I also found the road to el dorado interesting. Arent many films of any kind of the spanish hidalgos.

The animation was great; voice acting was well-casted.
But it was a bad story. The protagonists had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
I found myself rooting for the Pharaoh and the Egyptians.

I must admit, El Dorado was good. I watch it whenever it's on.
A relic of an age back when Dreamworks still did traditional animation.
