Okay; I was going to leave the Faction Threads until the next Chapter comes out but now is fine.

There are some requirements before you go ahead and make one. I would like your faction thread to follow a basic template so they it can cover all info and serve as a good 'home' for each country.

You may make it however you want, but on your post I need:
A list of any diplomatic relations you have (War, trade agreements, military passage, etc, etc)
Basic info about your nation (The name, name of the leader and the titles your nation possess)

Some thing's to know. The court is a house of any announcements or RP'ing you want to conduct in game. It is where you talk diplomatics, arrange peace, etc, etc. If someone wants to contact you by PM for diplomatic agreements this must be done by a public request for diplomacy talks. If you wish to announce something, for example:
Country A is sending three regiments to Country B to Town C to stop rebels
Or that country's are allying, this is where it happens.

So in the Faction forums make your own faction thread, its name being your country. Follow these rules and all should be well.

The Chapter, as I have been saying, si ready, but with the new countries it will take a bit more time. If anyone needs help making their faction thread just say so and I'll go into more detail.

    No, not dead yet.

It usually takes a while to update a IH, and with one on this size it will obviously take a while. I think I was relying too much on the RP'ing parts of the game; obviously some events and talk in between the Chapters will be needed.

I have added the names of historical leaders next to the names of the players, for gameplay and historical reasons. It is much easier to RP a character when you know it is, plus a majority of the wars fought in this time were over succesion.

    Default Chapter Two

    Chapter II

    1723, Spring

Like the season the people of Europe were on the move again. After a short peace, two years since the three long war of 1718 to 1721, the people were starting to kick back into motion. Insults were remembered from the last war, wars even, and issues were rising quickly.

The most immediate issue surfaces from the deadly waters of the War of Spanish Succesion. Gibraltar was a prize snatched from the Spanish by the British, and is a valuable port and historical icon. When it was kept after the war feathers were, and are, ruffled. In early March the Spanish government demanded Gibraltar be these, for various reasons. After no reply from the British occupants, news soon reached Spanish ears that several regiments had just arrived from Britain to reinforce the small garrison already there. In late March the Spanish governor to the north speaks out openly against British occupation, calling Gibraltar 'Europe's anchor, one which Spain has held proudly for centuries.' Some challenge this remark wisely, but the Spanish forces in Gibraltar do not react in any ways hoped. As the British fortify the weak rule they have in the small port city, a HEIC ship takes refuge in the port after a fearsome storm, but they bring with them a large portion of Spanish immigrants from the New World who were promised safe passage back to Spain to find British Gibraltar. Amongst them is a gifted speaker who quickly rouses a small portion of the city's population. As town militia are mustered outside of the city many wonder where this issue will lead.

The HEIC ship comes from India, where the ideas of Europe and Asia are mixing to varying results, mostly violence. With large Indian empires dominating the large mass of land, the European nations now lording over the older Indian nations are resented. The province of Goa on the west coast is Portguese controlled, the first European land claimed in India. It is surrounded by the Indian empires and many look towards it weak garrison hungrily. But a small Portuguese trained militia is formed in the large capital city and thrown defensively around the province, as diplomacy is opened with the Indian nations. How they will respond, is anyone's guess.

Elsewhere in India in the British province of Madras the port was thriving. In the city the British East India Company was slowly being set up for trading purposes. After requests were sent to the King, a quick confirmation came back from the King that low trading costs were to be set up for the HEIC in Madras. After this offical announcement the port soon exploded into a frenzy of business. Merchants and traders from the Madurai to the south, the Dutch provinces of Indonesia and Ceylon and the Mughal Empire to north provided the province with riches beyond belief, the first batch which are heading back to London for an added bonus to the British economy.
Down south towards the Dutch provinces of Indonesia was the isolated Portuguese island of Timor. With its sea links to Goa interuptted by Dutch land and the small island nations like Bali, trade was suffering with the risks involved. But in late April a small fleet of ships arrive from Goa, which, while lowering the garrison of Goa by five ships, now gives the trade better chance. The ships start to patrol the routes to Timor, but any results are too early to see.
Even furhter from Timor is the small Portuguese city of Cape Town. Established very early in the Colonial rush of the 17th century, it is a large port and city which is the offical stopover for Portuguese, British and Dutch ships heading towards India and South East Asia. With this success the African nations close by have turned a eye towards this port, seeing it as a potential threat to their further exsistence, and a very popular port which could put an end to the European menace. Troops arrive from Portugal in late March and he local governor quickly forms them and readys to march north into unknown land.
In the New World of North America the tension is just as high as Europe. Rivalry and grudges differ from that of home, back in the Old World. Provinces of nations are hostile to each other, and war is a constant thing. Of even greater risk then the dangers of opposing Colonial empires is that of the buccaneers and pirates, sometimes paid by those of the Old World, raid weak ports.
In the exotic land of South America two empires rule over it. Spain, who controls most of the Western side of the continent and Portugal, who has secure rule over Brazil. But the land to the south, unexplored and unclaimed, could hold potential riches, like those Spain discovered two centuries before. A large legion of explorers, locals and soldiers are formed in Cuzco and when money arrives from Mexico to the north, they set of immediatly, taking well known routes towards the unknown. In Brazil money arrives from Portugal, and requests for a force of explorers is sent out all over the province. Neither expedition has reached success will, but the compeition between the large force of Spanish heading south and the force of Portuguese in Brazil is obvious.

Not much happens to the North, but a small group of explorers return from French Canada to Paris to greet their King with the riches they have gained, and experince of the New World fresh in their minds. The explorers find themselves welcomed magnificently to the King's palace, where they are given a long time to share their experince with the King. For hours they tell of stories of fiearce battles as the colony is formed and the winters so harsh many do not see the next season. of the strange riches they found which head back to France. At the end they bring forth an issue. Even with a large fort currently built in Ottawa and Illinois, a constant threat is aimed at the weak French cities dotted between these two strong forts. The people in the pronvinces to the noth fear the British to the north, and in Ontario and Ottawa there is rumors of a large force mustering in the Huron nation to strike down the French empire.

Back in Europe the rivalry which came to surface in the War of Spanish Succesion is rising again. Matters which were supposedly fixed in the treates following the wars now become problems again. Luxembourg promises to be, once again, a hotspot. Fought over bitterly in the War of the Grand Alliance and War of Spanish Succesion, it is now controlled loosely by Austria through the foreign province of Liege. The people there consider themselves a mix. Some say they are true patriots and are Luxembourgish and loyal to the true country. Others say they are destined, and rightly, ruled by the previous owners of France. Some say that it would be best if Austria stayed ruler, as with such a strong nation surely they could hold up their struggling economy? This is reinforced when money is pumped into the economy, holding it up firmly and promising reward. The citizens do not change their mood, and when two regiments are sent into the city on peaceful terms some start to question Austrian rule.

Austria also has trouble with another city state, that of Salzburg. A city which is independant in early April the Austrian government sends through a proposal to the Salzburg leader. The proposal states mainly that, '...Salzburg and Austria would merge together into a vassalization in which Austria would become the senior partner...this would benefit both states with military and economical aid...'. The reaction in the city state is guarded. The official respone is that they will consider the merge. Some radicals in the city are outraged and speak out against while others, like Luxembourg, are eager to have a stable economy which is supported by Vienna.

Furhter north towards the Baltic the new Prussian sate is kicking into motion. As the Electors of Hamburg and Mecklenburg complain once again that Prussia should not have been given the rights and title of a Kingdom, a declaration of war is issued from Berlin. Things worsen, as the two Electorates are shocked into silence, in quiet disbelief. As small parties of troops raid across the borders to these two states, the Holy Roman Empire seems to explode. From all over the Empire come cries of anger and rage against the Prussian government. Many electors demand a instant withdrawl of any Prussian forces, a sincere aplogy and other possible money to please the victim nations. These nations, most of them located close to Prussia further up north, unite behind the angered government of Saxony. Some, though, are pleased by this sudden flow of events. They are reluctant to show open support except for a few, most notably Wurttemburg and Bavaria, but their arguments ring strong against those opposing their support. A fragile situation awaits Prussia, and if they do not be careful it could split Germany into two political sides. This will have further effects then the war it will obviosuy inflict. The Prussian people are eager, and throw their support behind the Prussian Army. They work furiously to fund the Prussian soldiers, now being trained in Berlin, and the economy takes a steady shot upwards.

In Southern Italy several regiments were sent to Naples and the surrounding countryside, with the troops settling in with the local population to good results.

In Eastern Europe, near the province of Wallachia the major powers of Europe have assembled and look hungrily upon this small land. On the Polish border nothing stirs, with the countryside quiet and normal, opposed to that of the Ottomans and Austria, both who have strong garrisons… or something more.

In northern Russia the budding city of St. Petersburg is underway, a icon and portal into the new age for the old country of Russia. With such advances coming, some of the Tsar’s closest advisors warn him change could disturb the population, but the construction of the modern new city speeds along with no interruptions.

With Russia barred from any sort of race to the New World, the Tsar looks east towards the unknown, unexplored and possibly dangerous areas of Eastern Russia. With the legendary routes to China and surrounding Asian countries bringing back wealth enough to fund a country, a group of Russian explorers are excited about what may be in the East. The Tsar authorises a expedition and a group of explorers, merchants and soldiers are sent over the Ural mountains, with maps to fill out and news to bring back. Their journey could be long, and they may not even return.

The religious state of Russia has been officially declared, with its state religion being firmly set to Orthodox, while the occupied Ukraine is declared Catholic. Furhter north near Protestant Sweden and the building city of St. Petersburg slight riots emerge around the countryside, with Protestants demanding some recognition, and state support.

In Swedish controlled Finland much is stirring. With the religious riots down south towards Russia, the split and occupied region of Finland starts to rumble with rebellion talk. With news going through Helsinki about a rebel organization being formed there and towards the city of Porkkala. Despite these rumors no action is taken, even with sightings of a rebel band of soldiers roaming amongst the lakes further north, near the city of Kuopio.

In the large country of Poland accusations fly. The powerful Sejm gained unbelievable power in the previous century, which in turn had evolved from the century before. With Poland a superpower, and being one of the largest nations in Europe with the unifacaion of Poland and Lithuania, foreign nations have taken a interest in the running of Poland. With the Sejm, a form of parliament, the members of the Sejm were given powers which allowed them to put a stop to any argument within the Sejm. This has led the way to certain members being bribed by foreign powers, and in 1697 it was commonly and openly known that the French Prince of Conti was voted in by corrupt members of the Sejm, and he was to take the throne of Poland before it snatched away from him. Years later this system has led to a downfall of Poland, with it falling into a state of anarchy due to any attempt of reform being rejected. In late May rumors went around of violence throughout the Sejm areas, with certain members renouncing any foreign influence and vowing to follow Poland, while several of the representatives still spoke openly of foreign influence. When one spoke of foreign bribery, the city of Krakow was angered and people of importance and well known demanded that these Sejm step down from their representation roles and retire to their home regions. When several openly refused these ‘offers’ the city angered more before it came to a climax when one of the Sejm was found murdered, brutally, in Lublin. The country was shocked that their parliament could be subject to such violence and foreign influence, and questions will undoubtly turn towards the Polish monarchy

Note: The decisions will be coming soon, but it would be wise to start planning it around now.
