In Nomine Missions Not Rewarding?

I've just bought EU3 complete through Steam last week and have been playing a bit as Castille.

I got a mission to destabilize Austria (which I thought was weird as they're nowhere near me and I don't see them as rivals or a threat) with my spies, specifically to get them to less than 1 stability. The reward was listed as being 1000 ducats and 10 prestige. So I sent my spies in and managed to get their stability to drop down to 0, but was caught doing it so lost prestige. The popup came up to tell me I had completed te mission but I wasn't given a reward of any sort and my prestige is now -23 from being caught spying.

It didn't specify that I wasn't to be caught or anything like that, does anyone know what I did wrong?

Answering your title, some missions are really disrewarding. However, some missions are very good. Such as the explore missions, which give you 5 or 4 colonists. Or the "Rumored mysterious islands" (in lack of better words) as Castille and Portugal where you find Madeira, Azores and Canaries. Also "Recover Greece" and similar missions give you 100 ducats as the Byzzies.

Sorry, that titles probably quite misleading, didn't realise it sounded like that. I don't mean they're not worthwhile doing, I mean that once I did it, I didn't get my reward for it, as I said in the first post. Does anyone know why?

According to the files, this mission is aborted if you go to war with anyone, or if you save, and switch nations (your old nation will automatically abort it).

Though since it's a rival nations mission (presumably it only fires for you concerning nations considered your rival), if Austria were no longer considered your rival it's possible the mission might fail?

As far as I know I didn't go to war with anyone, and was playing from before gettings the mission until after it so wasn't from loading another country. I'm fairly sure it did tell me that I'd suceeded, although I'm not entirely sure. Would have been quite a coincidence if it failed at the exact time I managed to bring Austria's stability down to 0. Looks like they decided just not to reward me for it
