Default Can you Fix AI, Reduce their Armies

For easier difficulties, atleast. Achean leage has just backstabbed me with a HUGE army, and when playing as Getae, Thrace usually has a full stack. Can you fix the AI so they aren't betraying bastrds and stack builders?
    Thanks.

its not that hard, that you could do it by your self. go to (your rome folder)\DTW\data\world\campaing\(campaing you wish to edit)\descr_strat.txt and edit that ( find town where you want to delete troops and you see tehir ID's

Hoplit, the solution you propose is just to reduce the troops at the beginning of the campaign, not for keeping the AI from betraying or building stacks. It may only slow down the AI progress.

It's a tough mod, got to contend with huge stacks even at the beginning of the campaign. So usually got to score a heroic victory on your neighbour you are at war with to survive - i.e. LGC have to take on Achaean League full stack right near the beginning (well if they attack you). As for back-stabbing that's just the AI I guess. My current campaign nearly all my so called allies have either attacked me or sided with the aggressor factions, no idea why they do that.

If you want an easier gameplay experience, try playing on Easy/Easy difficulty. There is also the installation option of removing all AI experience bonus. That will make playing on VH/VH easier than playing on Easy/Easy with default installation settings.

yeah it is really hard for some factions. try to use every dirty trick you have up your sleeve

haha wow so with reduced AI bonuses VH becomes easy in a game that did have AI bonuses?! Just shows how hard of a mod it is and I like it like that!

Also I have always wanted to ask - has anyone got any tips for diplomacy? Like certain combos that work to get the AI to agree to things. Or do you just have to offer huge amounts of money and have good influence? Just I never have enough money to bribe or push the deal so they usually say no. I know there is forced diplomacy but I mean any ways without.

Sometimes the faction refuses to talk to you. You need to offer a gift in money to get them to hear out more of your proposals

pfft the language of money is the only one they talk huh? Shame that I am always a poor faction. I have played RTW for so long and never found out a way to work out any good combinations for diplomacy. One I have found out recently is accepting to become a protectorate but demand around 20,000 and they usually give you it. Although they usually do attack you within the next move.

XGM has a nice forced diplomacy integrated, quite useful.

@topic: the more armies, the more glory

I didn't say make VH easy, I said make only N and E less difficult on the get-go, let you get a foothold first. Then you must face AWFUL DEBT, especially as Sparta, what would be my fave faction.
And I'm no die-hard gamer, so I don't want much challenge in the beginning, but after I get stronger, the AI can go wild.

@Cal20: really? I tried lots of times, but never managed to make the force diplomacy working...probably it needs fixing... @EmperorBatman999: I agree, as Sparta you must face an awful debt. That's because of the Spartan units that cost quite a lot in terms of unkeep, Laconia is surrounded by slave regions (so you can't have any land trade) and Sparta owns only a single region. It's tough, even too much. A simpler beginning would be welcome, but consider also the fact that the Pyrrhic campaign has no balancement via scripting.

Simply raising the tax income from Sparta should solve the issue. On a side note, I really need to have a word with you regarding the improved Cultural system.

I am still unable to use XFire, even with fast connections I can't download XFire updates cause connection breaks when I am about at 60% of the download.
I have opened a thread in the Dev Forum, we can discuss there...

I am almost positive that it does have forced diplomacy, isn't that part of the DTW background script?

It has exactly the same force diplomacy script as in XGM.

Force diplomacy works for me. I re-build alliances then screw them like they did with me.

My force diplo works, the only difference than XGM's is that you don't need to click on show me how... Just click the advisor's face.
