    Default snaga toughness

So what is the idea behind giving naked Snaga skirmishers 5 armor?

Are Goblins supposed to be unusually tough?

    Just curious.

Well, they die very quick now anyways, so I wouldn't complain unless they get another low-tier troop for level 2 barracks.

At 5 , They have more armor than Gondor Archer militia 4.

I think they need it, otherwise Isenguard would be very hard to play. Snagas are basically my line troops for the first twenty turns (access to spearmen, archers and raiders is quite limited early on.... while snaga availability is good).

Rohan declared war at turn 8, and their large numbers of archers would make short work of my morale if they didn't have a fair level of defense.

snagas are pretty damn weak in my experience, as silvan elves i was able to take out 2k snagas with less than 500 archers before i finally got overrun, and if they are caught in a meele they just dissapear..

Snagas are fine on my TA:TW. Cheap, quick fodder that can cause some issues (i.e. 250 Javelins being thrown at a unit of 75 charging horsemen )

agreed, i really don't feel comfortable if the snagas actually get close enough to throw those javelins at me, very effective stuff, but then again, they rarely get that close, and if they do i charge at them

I wouldn't complain about Snagas at all, I believe it is all balance issues and stuff like that...
In my latest battle as Rohan, the skirmishers, in a fluke, managed to throw their javelins at my charging horsemen before they got close enough. Lost Eomer (Yes, I got a general named Eomer ) and about 20 of his horsemen, and I'm not complaining! (WAHHHH )

I will complain. Snagas also got a morale upgrade. You can hit them with your heavy cav and they sit there and take it, taking forever to be killed one by one. They don't pose much of a threat to the cav, but it is illogical that they should just stand there and take it. What they should do is route, then regroup quickly. But they should not have any armor upgrades, balance or no balance.

they are easily killed off.. i can't see the problem, perhaps they do a bit too good against a horse charge, but i think it's the horses that need a buff then, because against arrows, and in reguarly meele i've never seen them do very good..

    I am considering decreasing mass to 0.7 - 0.8

Reducing armor on the skirmishers to Kingdoms leather value

    decrease cost and upkeep

Off balance this by giving Elite Saruman units the armor values they should have (full plate)

My personal oppinion is that, Snaga sucks too much. I won hundreds of battles with HE against OotMM & Isengard where i had from 300 - 500 soldiers and they had from 2000 - 4500. My archers and generals cavalry just kills hundreds of them with ease. And I am playing also on VH/VH.

I don't know if the M2TW engine allows for the behavior of the old MTW engine, but there, when you fought against certain factions, they would route easily, but also regroup quite easily, form up, and attack you again. This made fighting against them difficult, because your lines would get all screwed up, and inevitably one of your units would chase a routing unit right into the teeth of several regrouped units, who would then have a tactical advantage. The insanity and mayhem of those battles are what I envision battles with orcs ought to be. Maybe M2TW won't do that for us now, but it would be a more reasonable behavior for the light orcish units. They are meant to harrass, not go toe to toe against impossibly tough (for them) foes.

that happens a lot for me as gondor fighting the orcs. i had a 1000 gondorians vs 3000 orcs and the orcs kept retreating and reforming, and coming back. my original, perfect laid defensive line was split open and almost got torn apart if it weren't for my archers and bodyguard. i almost lost the battle too because of those damn black numenorians...SOOOO overpowered

this sounds like whats happening when i play isengard and fight against rohan..
i rout a couple of units, send a group to hunt, just to have them turn on me out of nowhere, got me into some nasty fight and some rather heavy casualties..
