    Default Upgrading RS 1.5

Since it's evident that RS2 is going to take a while, I have an idea to do a bit of an upgrade to RS1.5 to keep interest going and also to correct a few flaws that are complained about the most.

What I would like to do:

    1. Upgrade the environment in RS1.5 to the one I did a long time ago....new ground textures, and the few trees I re-textured (or borrowed with permission), and that Genno worked on.
It will be very basic, the grass I made (without Tone's innovations), and no new rivers (since that would blow the secret there). But it looks a whole lot nicer, and it would at least make some use of all the work I put into it.
    2. I've lowered the farming base so that population growth isn't so astronomical, and hopefully, will have the population control buildings working better.
    3. Made some adjustments to cavalry so that the horse cultures do better in auto-resolve.
    4. Made a number of adjustments to the economy so there is less money.
    5. Added a 'Provincial Campaign' map in which the Senate is re-added for those who liked them in the game.
    6. Removed some penalties so that revolts won't be 'quite' so likely. I don't really think it's that bad, but there have been complaints. Didn't remove them all, just a few.
    7. A few other minor adjustments to things.

I've been working on this off and on for the last few months, and I don't want to go overboard with it. I know there is a lot of stuff that 'could' be addressed, but it would involve too much time.

If there's anything else you think could be 'quickly and easily addressed'...let me know. What do think?

Sounds like a smart thing to do

Maybe even throw in a RS 2 unit like the Seleucid Thorakitai Argyraspides unit as a little gift/teaser, like you did when you added the first Carthaginian reskin into RS 1.10(i think).

I'm not sure about decrease population growth. The only problem with a high population growth is revolting. If you reduce the order penalties, there should be no problem.
And the problem with the population control buildings is that the penalties are nullified by the other bonuses, I think. You can either increase one or decrease the other, if it is possible.
High population growth really help the AI, they can spam units. In RTW most of the time the cities I took were at 400 of population.

Whatever you do, I think will be good.

I'd hold off on that, I'm in the middle of another patch to 1.5c (1.5d) which addresses the various bugs that have come up and other things I've noticed (the recruitment has many holes and inconsistencies and duplicate entries in 1.5c which I'm just about finished fixing) I'd been hoping to have it out on Friday, but it's looking like monday or tuesday is more likely.

Personally I wouldn't change the revolt stuff at all, the vocal minority is just that a minority most don't seem to have a problem with it, and those that do it's almost always they aren't destroying buildings from other cultures and/or not building anything that helps public order.

Well, as I said, I didn't change anything drastically....mainly because I don't want to get mired in it.

Whenever you get your stuff ready send it to me or vica-versa....but what I've done should be included.

NO RS2 units will be added. RS1.5 is from another generation of mods...they just wouldn't fit.

If you post it, I'll merge into mine, which will probably put off release for a few days, but would mean there'd only have to be a single patch.

    Ok.

BTW, just in case anyone is worried about population in RS1.5......the AI LOVES the population increase buildings regardless of what bonus you put in them...negative or positive.
And I reversed the order of the bonuses so that the highest growth starts in the lowest building....as it will be in RS2. That's why I lowered the farming base somewhat. So I'm not worried about the AI lacking warriors.

Actually, I think it would be fun to just drop this on the fans right out of the blue. I'm pretty sure no one is expecting us to EVER do anything to RS1.5 again....so it'll be a shocker.

Should we call it 1.6 as it will have major environmental changes.

We ought to put Spirit of Rob's Hellenistic generals in.

When you say the old environment you did, do you mean the new hilly terrain as well, or just the grass and trees?

They're in one of the RS2 Beta versions, or I can upload them.
It'd be great for Rob to have those generals being used.

If you could upload them that would be awesome, otherwise I have to try and find which version of the beta has them.

Let me sort it out when I get this dang computer fixed, Squid. The update I have is rather large, and many changes to DMB\EDU...so I'll find them.

I'll have to wait then, since I have made changes to DMB/EDU as well to fix a couple of things.
