[Americas AAR] The Tale of the Chichimec: A Chichmec AAR
This will cover (hopefully) my entire Chichimec campaign from start to finish. I have tried an AAR before, and it did not turn out so well, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Prologue: A Sleeping Giant Stirs
Chief Cacama looked sadly upon the city of Zacatecas.
"The market has never looked so empty," he thought aloud, shaking his head at the idiocy of it all. Ever since Xomimitl had risen to the status of War Leader, life in the Chichimec's lands had gone downhill. The originally small Chichimec army had swolen due to wild spending on training, but that had left the once thriving economy dry. Cacama had tried to warn his friend of the folly of his actions, but Xomimitl would not listen. And now he had gone, and taken his army with him.
Cacama banged his fist on the stone sill of the window. Why had he allowed Xomimitl to do this? The army had been out in the desert for weeks, with no word. They probably perished; and Cacama would not shed a tear. He had been left in charge of the tribes' capital, not that there was much to manage. Still, he had a job to do.
Chief Cacama turned, only to see his Spymaster, Alacan, standing in the doorway.
"My lord," he said, bowing his head in respect. "We have heard tell from the southern forces. They are within sight of Ahuacatlan, and plan to initiate the siege tomorrow."
"Well, it's about time," sighed Cacama. Still, the majority of their forces had gone north- including Xomimitl. Only time would tell their fate. Cacama nodded to Alacan. "Very good," he replied. "If there are any further developments, let me know."

Chapter 1: The Fire Spreads
1522, A.D.
The Siege of Ahuacatlan
Captain Ahexotl looked back upon his forces, who were beginning to form behind the crest of the hill. The warriors inside Ahuacatlan were many, and the young captain hoped he was strong enough.
"For the Sun God," he roared, lifting his spear over his head. "Take this city for the Chichimec!"
The warriors behind him roared with glee. His lower chieftains had been instructed what to do- he just hoped that no one would try to be the hero. The main force charged forward, straight toward the hundred or so defenders clustering at the village's entrance. Though the warriors knew that they could not hold, they stood strong in the face of the thousands of Chichimec soldiers, holding them for a long while.
Meanwhile, two small groups of three hundred warriors each split off, attempting to flank the square. These groups, however, were cut off by groups of defenders, who had predicted their attack and tried to head them off.
It was not long before Ahexotl's men had reached the square. Nearly a thousand warriors awaited them. Ahexotl did not hesitate. Though he did not see his comrades emerge yet, he knew there was no turning back now. Uttering a quick prayer to the Sun God, the captain and his men charged in.
The rest was all a blur. The defenders fought like ones possessed, slaying plenty of good Chichimec men. Their attempts only brought on more fury from the Chichimec, however, and soon one, tow of the smaller groups overcame their adversaries, surrounding the remaining defenders in a wall of spears and axes. Before he knew it, the battle was over. Ahexotl could barely see the ground, it was so covered with the dead- but they had won, Ahuacatlan was theirs.
Several hours later, Eyahem, one of the sub-chiefs, approached him.
"Captain," he began, inclining his head respectfully. "What shall I order that the men do?"
Ahexotl looked upon his dead warriors, who had given their lives to succeed in this mighty goal. As much as the defenders had a right to defend what was theirs, he had to show control.
"Take everything of value," he said coldly. "And send two-thirds of it to Zacatecas. The rest, the men can keep. Kill everyone who refuses, be it man, woman, or child."
Eyahem looked taken aback by the usually timid captain's orders. But he obeyed, striding off to spread the word.
Xomimitl was ready for the messenger when he arrived.
"What news from Eyahue?" he asked.
The messenger shuffled his feet uneasily. "He wasn't there, War Leader."
"WHAT?!" Xomimitl roared, slamming his fist on the delicate wooden table, snapping it in half. Clay tablets filled with Nahuatl notes clattered to the ground, several breaking.
"I waited there for several hours, but he never showed!" the messenger said hurriedly.
Xomimitl stared at him, struggling to restrain the urge to thrust a spear into the pitiful man's throat. He would have done it to Eyahue, but apparently he was already dead. It was sad, really- a spy that dies on his first mission. Shame. At least he got what he deserved for his incompetence.
"You had better leave," the War Leader growled. The messenger nodded hurriedly, rushing out of the canopy. The soldiers who had stopped and stared at Xomimitl's display quickly averted their eyes.
The War Leader quickly made up his mind. He stood and made his way to the top of the small platform that served as an announcement stand.
"We have heard news from our spy," Xomimitl cried, even as the soldiers began to turn their eyes upon him. "The rebel encampment is weak and lightly defended! Now is the time to capture it from them!"
The warriors below roared in approval, raising their fists and chanting to the Sun God. "We march north tomorrow at sunrise!" he bellowed. "To war!"
After several more cheers, the warriors began to pack up their tents, while others went to spread the word to their peers. Xomimitl smiled. Now was the time for the Chichimec to take what was rightfully theirs, by mandate of the Sun God.
