what i mean is, they are not in the unit roster on the grand campaign.
Simple reason, I chose to make Highland Pikemen available from the garrison quarters instead, pikemen perform much better. You cannot have too many units available in the building tech trees, otherwise its stupid and unbalanced. This is why England also cannot recruit Dismounted Feudal Knights since my recruitment changes in 3.8. They get Armored Swordsmen instead at the drill square. England can also recruit Armored Sergeants and later Dismounted English Knights. More than enough heavy units their before gun powder.

Glad to have found this thread, this was the same question I had. Now that I have the answer, how do I make highland nobles available for recruitment just like in Britannia campaign? Let me know please.
You need to add an entry for them in the edb export_descr_building copy the format of the other units entries and add them in at whatever level of building you wish (balance is at your own discression)
Make a back up copy of this file first because if you make anerror in it the game will CRASHgood luck

I thought that I saw in the building browser that Highland Nobles are available once an Armory is constructed, IIRC; are they never available?
They are unbuildable in 4.2 i did include them in HHB for the reason so many wanted them but also with AI changes it changes the balance of the game (between AI factions) and i found the extra unit possibility (even though small amounts) helped AI scotland go a little better sure it will aid a human player of scotland but then i have funded england much higher so you need the extra help IMHO
But i am never against people wishing to change the game to the way you want hey its your game but as i learnt sometimes just because it seems like a good idea it doesnt work out to be one . I added so many more features to the game while modding but i removed again because the end result was less well satisfying. what i mean is at one point i made it 6 turns a year with variable winter length and variable severity with movement penalties for areas affected by snow(eg so not in places like africa where its fine even in winter lol ) the movement pen was dependant on how severe the winter was and how cold the area you where in was .
It sems a magnificient idea and it worked really well but mid way through a campaign i realised yeah its great it works well but the AI doesnt handle it very well it just allows me to out manouvere them even easier as i understand where the movement penalty will be less the AI doesntso sometimes your better of to play the game as it was intended

What I saw was Noble Swordsmen. I would rather have Highland Nobles so I'll probably add HHB and play it next.
