Three choices. Free up room on c: drive. Repartition your C: drive to get the room. Put the game away.
What is repartitioning?
Google is you're friend:
Repartitioning - Disk partitioning is the act or practice of dividing the storage space of a hard disk drive into separate data areas known as partitions. A partition editor program can be used to create, delete or modify these partitions. Once a disk is divided into several partitions, directories and files of different categories may be stored in different partitions. More partitions provide more control but too many may become cumbersome. The way space management, access permissions and directory searching are implemented depends upon the type of file system installed on a partition. Careful consideration of the size of the partition is necessary as the ability to change the size depends on the file system installed on the partition.
Read my first post, again. You have two choices if you want to install the game. If you don't do one of those two, your choice, you have one option left, number 3, your choice. The game company wrote the installer that way on purpose and they're not going to rewrite it.
Acronis, and Google will find it for you, makes a real good partitioning program. I still have my old copy on a cd someplace from about ten years ago when I was going to try a dual boot.
Unless you want to take the more time-consuming choice and not delete your programs than you could always run Disk Defragment and Disk Cleanup and maybe you'll empty enough space for RTW. Otherwise just delete something you don't use and free up space.
er, there is another option. insert the m2tw disk 1, right click it and select explore. then open the m2tw directory, then the disk1 directory. in there's a setup.exe which works and which does allow you to select the destination drive for the install.
irishron - some of us have two physical drives, the smaller of which is the c: drive and with the operating system doesn't leave room for the 12gb m2tw needs. got plenty of room on the other drive though, and as the system requirements failed utterly to specify the 12gb needed to be on your c: drive i went ahead and bought it. as the install problem is not grounds for a refund from the shop or sega, it grates a little to have people telling me it's "my choice" to have wasted the money on the game.
either sega should make clear in the on-box system requirements that the space needs to be on the c: drive, offer refunds to the aggreived, or rather more simply just whack a note in the box and some stickies on the forums about how to use the workaround above. no?
Point taken and I agree. It is still CA's game to make and Sega's to market anyway they wish including the installers. The only way it may ever change is everyone that owns a copy informed corporate enmasse. I'm just the unpaid messenger and I don't work for either one.
