Ahhh, okay, I was already looking at it . Seems I was a bit too quick (missing the third link =exe version, mirror) tonight.
thx a bunch m8
Well, installed DoB, started a new "danish" campaign with recommended settings : perfect ! It now feels exactly like I assumed it is meant to be played and still very challenging in battle mode. I don't have MTW 2, so I can't compare with the original , nevertheless as far as I#m concerned I consider it a little masterpiece!
Very well done, and the enhancements of DoB are making it even better. One of my favorite Mods now, beneath EB and 77BC/58BC. I also appreciate you focussed on action and moderate, smooth gameplaying.
Too much realism/complexity might kill the fun sometimes.(Which is a matter of time to invest of course)
I've read this forum for years and never felt the need to make an account except now to tell you how much I like this mod with this submod. Its tied with EB now, whenever I sit down to play I'm torn between the two. Good Stuff!
thanks nine-o for kind words.
sorry my english.
First, VI2 is the best total war experience with medieval setting. But I have two questions:
1) Where is Halfdan Scylding, the third son of Ragnar Scylding?
2) What are the recommended settings for this mod? I know that it's balanced for medium unit size, but for which difficultysetting?
Well I researched a bit, and your medium unit size is actually historical. Let's take the viking factions. Their smallest military unit was the ship crew, which varied from 35 to 70, depending on the ship size,. but around 50 men were a common raiding party. The ahistorical are the game limitations. A real danelaw army could have 100+ ship crews, so 5000 men. That whould be around 5 full stack armies, and these army sizes aren't realistic compared to the ingame population. So your recommended unit size is correct, the game limitations are not.
Did I already mention that your mod is great and that in opinion it's the best medieval strategy game I ever played?

Thanks for the mod....
Oh and about Halfdan: There is a starting general named with this name, and I converted him into Ragnars son, so the family Lodbrok is complete. He is21 years old and starts in Canterbury. I uploaded the changed desc strat.

thanks for adding halfdanand offcourse for the mod
I am curious about one thing: Why are vikingr so damn weak? Of course they were pirates and bandits, not elite warriors, but even Leidangrand Fyrdmen are stronger. Fyrdmen were armed peasants and the leidangr have an higher armour alue, although they do not wear any armour at all and vikingr have helmets.

Leidangr have some parts of soft and toughened leather armour (on the torso), where Vikingr have just thick clothing. The models themselves perhaps don't mirror this exactly (as we had to work with whate models we could find), but that's the situation stat-wise.
And, because I started to make you suffer with numerous questions, here are two more of them:
1) Why does Doric start with the highest population in Wessx, shouldn't Winchester(or at least London) be bigger?
2) Is there a way to make the AI use shieldwalls? Because in my games, the ai never used it.
