All I have ever done is;
Add & Remove Programs for both RTW and Patches
Whatever drive you installed RTW to, say C: and right click on any folder connected with the game and delete.
If you do not want the 'installer' anymore then locate it and delete by right clicking on it.
Run 'Search for Files and Folders' called Rome Total War or Roma Surrectum. Delete files from that.
Usually right clicking and deleting an icon works, perhaps re-boot after the above steps.
After that you can always go into the registry editor delete all or any related files, being mindful that it is permanent.
Hope this helps.![]()

I tried to re install Barbarian Invasion and all that happens is the menu comes up and says Play Barbarian Invasion, and the Install icon is grayed out. I click play and some Demoshield thing pops up then nothing happens... this mod messed it all up.

You obviously didn't uninstall it correctly, you'll need to use a registry cleaner to remove any extraneous registry entries.

xiandaxxx, RS1.5 has been out a LONG time, and has not 'wrecked' RTW in any case more than we've stated that it will...unless the user installs it wrong. This mod is incapable of causing the problems you have at this time. It cannot prevent you from installing anything, nor can it cause icons on your desktop to freeze your computer when you try to delete them.
I suspect, as a former professional in this area, that you have a 'corrupt profile'....which means that settings stored in 'Documents and Settings' (your profile name) have become, basically, garbled and nonsense to Windows. One of the 'signs' of this is icons becoming 'locked' on the Desktop, and registry entries becoming 'locked' as well so you can't install or uninstall things. In these cases, Windows starts to behave weird, and it is usually best to just create a new profile. If you don't know how to do that, just go to Microsoft's site and search for 'creating new profile' in Windows XP.

The easiest way is simply clicking the map of the RS folder and delete it.. Worked for me with several mods.
I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think - Socrates
Barbarus hic ego sum, quia non intellegor ulli - Ovidius
The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool - William Shakespeare

I'm having a lot of trouoble reinstalling vanilla. I deleted RS and RTW and used a registry cleaner to clean up my system. When I try to reinstall RTW, it tells methat a previous version of RTW has been detected on my computer and that I should uninstall this before installing RTW again. I have the Gold-DVD version (with BI). Any thoughts???
You must go in the register and look for all RTW values and delete them. Only then you'll be sure there isn't a trace left of RTW on yar computer.
Then you can reinstall RTW.
Pwn or be pwnd
Search for 'creative assembly'....RTW registry keys are under that.
Then search for 'Rome - Total War'.......delete anything that has that in it.

And if you have Vista, don't install in 'Program Files'.
