    Default Moria

    Can you maby change the way Moria is shown?

    At the starting date there were drawes under to Balin in Moria. Can you splitt the settlement into a west -, a east Moria and one stone fort in the north. This would shown that the orcs were not in whole Moria and how big Moria was. The halls of Khazad-dum stretch about 40 miles from east to west.

    Maby in later Versions I would really love to see one super heavy Rebell-Unit with a Balrog in it which should be as strong as an army orcs. This would pefectly shown what a curse this creature was.

    But could you maby splitt Moria in two settlements for the next version? One with thousands of orcs and one with some draws, being in war with the ootmm? (A challange to hold moria)

    There could be a variation of citadels to villages spread down through Moria, with small places you're able to walk between. Maybe a few different paths, but only two exits, of course.

    If you were to split it, would it not be better for the east to be a fort the same as the center (north)? The west is still called Moria (elvish tongue Khazad-dûm) but what would you call the other settlement if it is not a fort? the name Moria gate, or east Moria, or the like, does not feel right..

    Personally, I like the way it is now, it gives you a starting goal.

    I would like the name
    East Moria -> East Khazad-dum
    West Moria -> West Khazad-dum

    Osgiliath is also divided and I like this too.

    I thought the dwarves called it : Khazad-Dûm? and the elves Moria?

    I was thinking...

    Moria - two exits, east owned by rebels (no garrison), west by Dwarves (look in History below), and a fort in the middle with an Goblin (OOTMM) garrison including cave trolls.
    To stop the garrison script from exploding! should make the west entrance the original Moria city, and although it is owned by a small Dwarf garrison, if the OOTMM take it (which they will) the script will still work HAR HAR HAAA!

    History of Moria (Khazad-dûm)
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    In TA 2989, Balin left Erebor and entered Moria with Flói, Óin, Ori, Frár, Lóni, and Náli intending to establish a colony and reestablish the ancient kingdom, but the orcs there discovered them and the colony was destroyed. He was killed by an orc archer in the Dimrill Dale in 2994.

    During Sauron's dominion of the Second Age, the Dwarves closed the doors of Khazad-dûm. At this time Khazad-dûm was renamed Moria, the 'black pit' or 'dark chasm'.
    Therefore in the Third age we should not call them anything but 'Moria'.

    Also, why are there no mountains on the Moria battlemap? Most other mountainous settlements I've come across do have them, but Moria's just a big plain for some reason. Doesn't really fit, it should be surrounded by mountains from all sides.

    i think they should do what they did with mordor and modify the sky to look like roof of a cave.

    it is a plain because it represents a featureless cave.

    Well for me it's a forest. First time I had a battle near Moria it was a winter forest during a blizzard! Luckly willing suspension of disbelief does wonders for immersion.

    Moria might be more problematic then Osgiliath. Where Osgiliath is basically a city divided in two by the river Anduin (a la like Stalingrad is broken in half by the river Volga, now it's called Leningrad I think...) Moria is a huge abandoned metropolis located deep in a mountain. The M2TW engine can render outdoor environs just fine it's what it was made for... But to come up with something that looks even remotely like a huge cave interior might be beyond what the game engine can do... Though I didn't think you could have a bridge connect two separate cities like they did with Osgiliath so let's see. :XD

    I think they should just continue to do what they are doing because they are doing a superb job in their own free time...

    Moria

    One western exit (fort)
    Main parts of Moria (Moria settlement)
    One eastern exit (fort)

    You get the drill

    Its been a while since this thread was active but i have something to share with Isildor;

    yes, that is Zirakzigil Lake - and it will be in the DaC 4.0 release along with a nice little story event and if your faction does not suite the idea of controlling Moria mines, or halls of Khazad-Dum, your settlement will be named Zirakzigil.

    The caves are named - Kheled-zarâm - in Dwarvish.
    The icy springs are named Kibil-Nâla - in Dwarvish.
    The vally is named Azanulbizar - in Dwarvish.
    Khazad-dûm was the Dwarvish name given to the great halls which were home to Durin's clan the Longbeards.
    Moria is Sindarin for Black Chasm - a name given to the ruined halls after Orc occupation.

    Kheled-zaram was actually the name of the Mirrormere in Dwarvish.

    "'There lies the Mirrormere, deep Kheled-zaram!' said Gimli sadly."
