    Default Indian elephant glitch

I've found an interesting glitch with a unit of Indian elephants in my current Baktrian campaign. Firstly, they keep being resurrected. Regardless of their losses they continue to maintain exactly 9 soldiers. In fact, they ran amok in my last battle and I used the special ability to kill them before they ran down my other soldiers. Secondly, (don't know if its related) the last few times they've come back with a 9 on the unit card, rather than 3 elephants with 9 riders they now are 9 elephants with only a driver on each elephant. So, while they work normally in gate breaking and battle, they don't have bowman and thus have no arrow firing ability. I doubt this would be a XGM problem but its a first for me and thought I would share it and see what others with more knowledge than me think.
Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

Its a vanilla issue, AFAIK. I've seen it too, sort of useful sometimes, although it feels like cheating when the elephants just come back out of nowhere. Ah well, I'd rather have another elephant than one bowmen anyways.

There are certain amounts that will give you more or fewer elephants. If, for example, you had 10 men in the unit, you might get only 5 elephants. It's usually numbers not divisible by 2 or 3 that give more elephants, which seems strange given that you have 9.

Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

I have seen that happen quite a few times in vanilla RTW and BI, as well as mods. It also happens with Chariots. So far as I know there is no fixing it.
