    Default Some Points

    Hello all,

So I reinstalled the game after some pretty bad CTDs and its been running CTD free for 2 days now. Over the course of playing the 361 AD campaign as the Romans I've noticed some things that I feel deserve comment. Everytime I build a Manichaen Meeting House, the offical religion in that settlment automatically turns to Manicheanism, no matter what other religious buildings there are or what the governor's religion might be.
Second, I have some points regarding recruiting. Is there anywhere that Vexillationes Sagittarii are recruitable? The export_descr_buildings file says they need the "auxilia" and "syrian" resources. But Antioch is clearly not "auxilia" and I checked all the other cities in the region and they're not recruitable. Also, weren't Lugdunum, Aquilea, and Adrianople major bases for the comitatenses and palatinae? I think Lugdunum even had an imperial mint and/or a fabricae. Yet these cities are pretty weak in IJ3, I'm tempted to mess around with the data files to make them more useful. Of course I could be mistaken, it's been a few months since I seriously looked into the late Roman Empire and I seem to have misplaced my copy of Jones. Verona, Poetovia, and Salona could probably use some bulking up too in terms of recruiting ability.
Speaking of Poetvia and Salona, they both have the Domus Diocletiana.
I'm sure there will be more comments to follow!

Thanks for the comments. I will check the vex sagitarii. But in relation to recruitment of comitatensis/palatinae troops, there is in total 22 cities where they can be recruited across the empire. 22. That is alot. This was done to try to restrict the recruit of field army troops, as most people will attempt just to run rolls royce armies. So, there has been a deliberate attempt to create a balance. Of course if you don't like this you are more than welcome to change recruting to suit your own taste. I've certainly done that before with mods.

There is a full description of recruitment in the main page thread. I hope you are enjoying the mod.

in relation to building manichean buildings, it may depend on what other religions exist in that city. If you have a few then it wont take much to make one the "dominant" one.

    Cheers

EDIT: I checked the export_descr_buildings.txt file and you need to replace "auxilia" with "palatina". Then you will be able to recruit the Vexillationes Sagittarii.

Ive noticed it converts to the highest tier religous building in the settlement. I learned that the hard way with i think it was tolosa with its jewish temple. I had to destroy it just to get any kind public order.

Hmm, 22 is alot, I guess it just dosen't seem that way when the ones along the Rhine/ Danube have fallen to Barbarians within 5 turns! And I think I've figured out the Manichean meeting house. It starts off with a conversion rate of 10%, that's the same as a Christian church or a Pagan temple. So even though the meeting house is the first in the Manichean building line, it's equivalent to the 2nd level of Christian/ Pagan buildings. Which means there needs to be a 3rd level Christian/ Pagan building in order to not have Manicheanism take over.

I understand how you feel, but beatoangelico and myself wanted to create more realistic recruting conditions, especially for the field army units where recruitment focused around "imperial" centres. But hey, when you're in trouble, we could all do with a few palatine troops or two. Look after your elites I say.

    Cheers

About religions, is it correct that onli Arianism/Christianity/Paganism have a negative effect on public order? i mean that those religions appear in the line of disorders causes while manichaism/judaism/zoroastrianism never appear and never seem to create disorder in settlements with one of the first 3 religions above (AR/CHR/PAG) as official religion.
