    Default How-to question

Hi everyone. I'm a long time total war player and love playing the fantastic mods fans come out with. So far my favorites have been XGM and SPQR but when I saw this I flipped out and cursed my internet for downloading so slowly. After playing some custom battles and starting a campaign I found one issue with the game which has kind of been a game-breaker for me. All the units seem to have reduced speed and thus tire very easily. When taking my first city I was irritated to find that my spearmen, who had been ordered to flank the small town, took twenty minutes to go a quarter of the way around the town. Furthermore, moving at only this walking pace, they were exhausted by the end of it. Having such a movement handicap limits how much I can use my units tactically and ultimately gave me a frown. Also, when my men finally did reach the enemy, I found that without selection triangles or well highlighted men (as in SPQR) I couldn't get an accurate idea of how well my men were coping.

So my question to you folks is this: How can I change unit speed? Also, how can I increase the brightness of highlighted men? Thank you for your time.

Are you perfectly sure your men were not in shield-wall formation? If they were that would explain the slow pace and the high exhaustion, shield-wall does that.

If you want to increase unit speeds, you can edit the data/descr_battle_map_movement_modifiers.txt file, pretty easy to understand what's what in there.
Not sure about the brightness, but you can just bring back the arrow markers in the preferences/preferences.txt file (set DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:FALSE)

Thanks a bunch! I had no idea it was so easy
