Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
This is the story of Captain Charles, Leader of the honorary Jerusalem Guard, appointed by King Baldwin himself.
The army stands at the ready on this ill-fated day, knowing that if they have any chance of winning it will be Gods grace that it happens so, for the armies they faced were numerous, but the pious stood strong.
Charles, little more than a Captain was tasked in leading this army against the Islamic horde that swelled up on the opposite bank.
"Sir?" It was one of Charles bodyguards, both faithful and strong, "What are your orders?". Charles looked at the enemy then snapped out of it, "Order the trebuchet to fire, They will be purged through fire". With a wave of his sword the trebuchet were loaded and fired at the infantry charging towards them through the shallows of the river.
As the enemy loomed ever closer, the crossbowmen reloaded their trusty weapons.
...And let loose a might volley!
Men fell screaming as the fire and bolts engulfed them, the knights winced at the sight but the righteous must defend their religion as these warriors threatened Jerusalem herself.
The enemy had almost reached the halfway point and Charles gripped his sword tighter waiting to give the command for his infantry to strike.
As the mangonels, trebuchet and crossbowmen ran out of ammunition the warriors saw that they themselves would need to act quickly.
And so the brave warriors of God rushed forward...
And the cowardly foe ran from their might...
The enemy Turkish general saw that Fatimid general refused to retreat. Fighting for his honour he fell a brave man but alas, without leadership his army was lead to disarray.
The Turkish Captain charged forward with a glare in his eyes and revenge in his mind. "Allah Akbar!" he shouted raising his scimitar. Some men turned and followed the Islamic general and his cavalry and Charles frowned.
"Pull back!" Charles ran back with his cavalry to dry land as he saw the new threat arise. "Pull back or your life be done!!"
Charles men ran but saw the carnage they had created.
Charles ordered the crossbowmen to again fire at the ever vigilant enemy.
And fire they did...
The Turkish Captain emerged from behind the cavalry ranks. Behind him marched the final attack force.
Powered by anger he charged his horse towards the crusaders, defenders of light and swung his seething curved blade.
He knew very well the battle was lost and so he ran.
He ran into the sunset an was never seen again for by retreating he had shamed himself and it is better to live one day as a lion then one hundred as a sheep.
Charles let the man go as he had to tend to the infantry still charging towards his brave men...
But there was no need.
For he had won.
And so all good me shall rejoice the day when Charles lead his valiant vanguard against feared forces of which men fear the very likes of.
The End.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day
