Obviously I enjoyed the video. It didn't explain enough as to why communism or state intrusion can and is more often than not a bad thing, but it did explain the jist of capitalism.

Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
hey everyone remember youtube is the greatest source of everything!

Not that I was expecting any kind of real retort from you Kiljan.

Come on JP, it's just an entertaining cartoon... 'America is great and has the largest economy because of capitalism.'
Without capitalism our quick rise would not have been possible, but by the time any coherent communist (revolutionary socialist) movement came about we could have made the switch. Things would be radically different of course... But I think given that much of the early communists were Trotskyists (what broke off of the main Socialist party), we would have maintained much liberty in the American tradition.
Really, after the early 20th century what catapulted us to superpower status was the destruction of other production centers relative to our own. Would we have been a superpower with a armed proletariat revolt? Probably not. And we still probably would have had a cold war with the stalinists.
what? I find Youtube in general and cartoon films from the 1950s to be a poor way to make an argument JP, although I must say "nice" attempt at an insult.

and sometimes people need colorful pictures and cartoons to actually get the jist of what is theoretically incredibly obvious. Insult.Noble Savage

See? This film cleverly reveals the absurdity of the Evil Satanic American Capitalist System. Anyone who disagrees is obviously a moron who is so stupid that not even a cartoon can explain the truth to them. If you disagree with communism you are a fool and have no right to your opinion, and If you object to what I am saying, please watch the cartoon. It will change the way you think about economics.
Socialism, Communism
only thing in common is the ism in the end!![]()
Sometimes both sides are wrong. Unfortunately most people do not understand this and argue endlessly.
Aww now insults JP you know insulting people really is not a good idea. Especially when it includes a large number of forum goers, sad really.

Be reasonable now, state intrusion can be a bad thing but in some cases it truly does have rights in its regulation and 'intrusion'.
Any government, based on freedom and rights and proper leadership can prosper, be it capitalist, communist or other wise. Even the US has its own history of regulating buisness, because at times it is right for the government to step in, especially in terms of monopolies... Hell, even Theodore Roosevelt did his fair share of regulating buisness, alot of his work is what contributed to US prosperity and role on the world stage... in cases of the state, sometimes it is proper to step in on cases such as sanitary issues or worker rights.
For a video I feel it does a good job explaining the profits of a capitalist society with freedom intact, but we do not see an example otherwise... Communism I feel is a viable system, not in its current form, but certainly one geared towards right and a true union of the state and the workers, wishful thinking perhaps... This films major flaw I feel is representing all 'isms' (Ironically, Capitalism ending with such) as authoritarian and slave states.
All I'm saying is it is merely a cartoon comrade, entertaining yes, but US prosperity, while having alot to do with capitalism, is not merely built on that principle... just about any system built around freedoms, like the ones the US makes available, can prosper with proper leadership and vast resources, US growth having alot to do with the vastness of its own resources...
So once more I ask that we remain reasonable.
NOTICE: In reference to my avatar, the blue and gold sickle and hammer represent a variation of 'red' communism, my variation with its blue, standing for nuetriality and peace, and gold, for prosperity through cooperation, is a system my own... I am not evil. Thank you.

If history tell us anything it is that fairness and justice are paramount.

Have to agree with Kiljan Arslan, its a nice little animation, but it is propaganda. It is taking the best case scenario of capitalism and comparing it with the worst case scenario of communism. Not a good way to make a point really.
It's cute JP226. That's the problem.
It's a propaganda movie, but it's absolutely right.
Yeah!
...those crazy kids and their maltshops, geez loo-eez...
Show me a political system that doesn't maintain fundemental flaws. The most common flaw: every system assumes that adherents won't get greedy and cheat...that's ignoring human nature. Call commies naive idealists all you like: I need but point to recent economic trends to show that capitalists are also hypocrites in the reality department.Originally Posted by JP226

Mix of both. The same can be said of any political commentator, including you or me.Is it blind ignorance or a refusal to accept the truth?
The very worst human rights scenario is where a capitalist country has partnered up with communist countries to exploit their cheap labor and resources. Who can fault us for allowing another country to abuse its own people to our benefit?
Giving tax breaks to the wealthy, is like giving free dessert coupons to the morbidly obese.
