I agree with Panzer, this is an awesome mod. Thanks Lestat!!!
I also want to share my experience for those that is still having CTD. I deleted the old Rome TW, and reinstalled it in C:\ , NOT C:\Program Files\ . Then I follow all the instruction as to how to install Imperator and again I use C:\Activision\Rome - Total War to install it to. And the baby works fine!! No more CTD. I dont know if Vista has anything to do with it because I read somewhere that dumb Vista move some of the files to other places, just like the do that to Empire and Medieval II where they place it in some other folders. I recommend anyone running on Vista and having CTD to try this.
Now I have to start my Roman Empire all over again and bare the torture of Illyria, Pyrrhus and Carthagian attacking me from all fronts before I can inflict any damage back at them in maybe 50 turns later!!!
If any of you have Alex then I would suggest playing using Alex.exe instead of BI.exe. I can't upload files anymore (since I don't have the mod installed) but by following some simple instructions it's better overall actually than BI.

First off, apologies for having gotten your name wrong, LestaT. Secondly, I'm not quite sure about the entire "mod switch" business. The target line on my shortcut reads thus:
"D:\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:IMP --nm -show_err
Is that how it's supposed to be?
As to my present campaign, I was very pleased to be able to use my saved game I had already started with the obviously buggered installation and consequent endless CTDs. I had successfully fought off Pyrrhus and a few Carthaginian incursions so I really didn't want to start over--especially since I was finally making money. Then Macedon arrived in force, so I shifted all my forces to the north and deployed a couple of spies and a squad of assassins to North Africa, which depleted the number of Carthaginian family members sufficiently to curtail its ambitions for a while. I'm now at about 230 B.C. and slowly pushing the Macedonians back. It's great.

If you RTW is installed in the D drive then it's the target line will be.

Yep, that's where it is. The shortcut is working just fine, but as I mentioned, I'm still a little unclear about just what the mod switch is supposed to do.

You're not suppose to do anything with 'mod-switch' (or another name mod folder). The difference between mod switch and non-mod switch is that the mod switch is a mod that is installed in it's own folder without over writing the vanilla games data folder.
That means you can have a single RTW/BI installation which still can be installed multiple mods as long as all the mods (maybe 90% of the current mod for RTW-BI) like EB, RTRPE (mod switch version), 77BC, TFT, TIC, the coming FOE and obviously Imperator II and MNM.
Traditional mod pre-BI like RTR 6 Gold and the original Imperator is installed directly on the main data folder which will over write the vanilla games.
