    Default Great Mod!

Hello everyone. Just wanted to say thanks for a great mod and gaming experience. I have all the TW games even ETW(what a disappointment) but RTW has always been my favorite. I up until recently have always played Vanilla versions on all games. But seeing TATW mod I had to give it a try which led to a whole new world of mod's. I have downloaded and played TATW, Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod, and now this Extended Greek Mod.

They are all excellent Mods but since Rome has always been my favorite time frame(antiquity) and this Mod has captured it IMHO the best. Right off the bat of starting my first Campaign has the Romans it was exciting and challenging. Pyrrhus was a monster but with a little luck from a well placed slingstone I sent the noble king to meet his fathers. I lost that battle but without their 10star juggernaut it was only a matter of time. The following turns saw the Roman rebels attacking and Carthage landed 3/4 stack army near Capua. They have been driven off and now I am in control of the Italian peninsula and heading for Sicily. All this in the first 20 turns, again hat's off to the makers of this great Mod and to those who contributed! Well done.

I would like to add my thanks for providing great enjoyment and relaxation.

This was the first mod I ever played and I always go back to it.

Keep it going and thanks again.

I loved how this game kept the vanilla feel to the game. This mod is neat and nicely done. Mods like RS and EB change the game way too much, it feels sloppy on how the UI is, the map, everything.

To the OP i also did a Roman campaign and it was quite challenging. I fought non-stop with the Greek and Roman rebels. They must of besieged Capua 4 times. There was also the rebels that came up and then Carthage sent a stack and I showed them who's boss. It's quite challenging. I might do a AAR on it

    Good mod

Yes, we're very fortunate that Dime took interest in modding RTW. With all the mods I play, I always end up clicking on that broze hoplon for satisfaction.

Very true. Makes me wonder when he's gonna release the next version, as we've been playing on 5.8.20 & 21 for a while now.

By no means am I bored with XGM (and I do have XC installed, I'm just focusing on my XGM Roman campaign right at the moment), I'm just curious as this is the longest I remember Dime going between new releases (and I've been playing XGM since version 5.4.4).

Well, DBH had longer pauses in the past, after all he's got a life like everybody else...
In the meantime yours truly will still try to pull off new tricks from the RTW/BI engine (just wait to see the next few versions of XC and it will be quite the evolution with the culture swap) and take care of the logistic (been snooping around trying to get permissions/collaboration for new unit models) to ensure the neverending evolution of the mod we all love and play...

Talking about changes in the mod, one change that I would like to see, is reducing the power of javelins in any javelin unit. They are devastating to any other unit, even the heaviest armoured one (like cataphractes, cappadocian cavalry, spartan perioicoi, everyone!).

well, I am just getting back into RTW after a long hiatus... (travelling for a long time, and not owning a proper computer when I was at home).. now I'm living in Bangkok and teaching, but finally got myself a new computer (sony vaio)

anyway, first game I got for it was Rome, and I actually went and bought a legitimate copy (in Thailand that's something!) now I'm looking for the right Mod (been playing DarthMod just to get started, but it's way too vanilla)..

so the point is... I'm gonna give XGM a try because of this post. sounds sweet!

oh, GoldShield.. well, like I said I'm just getting back into Rome. but originally I played it right when it came out.

I never did much modding, but I started Modding on Rome: Total War. what I did was, I played Rome Total Realism, and then I made a few modifications on top of that.

so, what I'm saying is, modding this game is quite easy, especially changing unit stats and buildings stats. what you should do is change the power of the javeling units yourself. there are many tutorials on modding on these boards, and it's quite safe to do as long as u back-up any file that you make changes to...
