Default Episode III Road To Independance

    Hello Everyone,
I'm playing the road to indepandance at the moment because I'm completely new to the total war series. But I have a problem, I was playing the last objective of episode II, the one that you have to capture the french city at the top of the map. When I took control of the city, the letter I recieved said: Unlocked chapter III, but when i return to the main menu, I can't choose to play episode III. What do I have to do to solve this? Because it get's me so angry that it makes me wanne throw my whole system + the game out of the window..
So I hope that somebody can help me.

EDIT: If i posted this in the wrong topic, please move or delete or whatever you guys do with this kinda things

    Thanks in advance

I think the idea is to not return to the main menu - the game should start episode III for you. If you take Louisberg you will then get another mission to take Montreal and Quebec - these are still Episode II. Once you've taken those the campaign should be continued and you will fight the battle of Bunker Hill - win or lose you will then start Episode III which is the fight of the USA to remove the British from America. The objectives for Episode III is to hold 14 settlements by 1825.

It sounds like you're confusing your episodes.

No I'm not confusing episodes, but I was playing II, and yes indeed, I had tot take Louisberg. But the moment I got it, I didn't get another objective, or a redirection from the game.. So that's what's confusing me..
But I'll try to take Montreal and Quebec, and then I'll see what'll happen.

Another one: When I have my ship docked in my harbor, and I want to take my general out of it, the game shuts down and says: Empire Total War has stopped working. What can I do about this? And yes, I'm running it on Windows Vista...

EDIT: Now I see it, I put the wrong episode in the title for this topic! Sorry!

Well until you take Louisberg the area of Montreal and Quebec are not accessible. I tried to move towards them but could not use the river crossing.

I did take out the other French colony on the south-east side of the St Lawrence seaway before I look Louisberg (I like to remove any possible threats before moving my army away by ship).

But that's the problem, I already took Louisiana, but I still don't get the new objectives. Or do I have to take the French forts first or something?

Well the following is a list of the Episodes and the chapters in each episode.

When Episode I chapter 3 is completed there is no option to return to the menu. Similarly with Episode II chapter 3.

    Code:
    Road To Independence

    Episode I
Starts with a fight against indians - Powatah Confederacy
    Jamestown 1607
    Chapter 1 - New Begining
Build peasant farm - reward +500 treasury
Build Fishery - unlock chapter 2
    Chapter 2
Capture Worowocomoco - unlock chapter 3
    Chapter 3
Capture Shackamaxon - complete Episode I

When this is done a message 'Colonization of the New World is successful' is shown and Episode II is loaded

    Episode II
Chapter 1 - Claiming Ohio Valley
Form alliance with Iroguois - reward +500 treasury
Take Fort Niagra - unlock chapter 2
Take Fort Duquesne - reward +500 treasury
Chapter 2 - Taking to the seas
Take Louisberg - unlock chapter 3
        Build 5th rate - reward +500 treasury
    Chapter 3
Take Quebec - complete Episode II
Take Montreal - complete Episode II

When this is done the message 'The French are defeated' is shown and Episode III is loaded

Episode III - War of Independence
    Starts with Bunker Hill battle
Capture and hold 15 regions by end of year 1825 (hold till 1 year after).

OK, post a save game (compress it either as a zip or a rar file). Have you applied any mods?

Edited: to get a save game press the ESC key - this will bring up a window that allows you to load or save the game.

Then I can save my game, but how can I post a saved game on this forum?

When you reply to a post press the 'go advanced' button. Part-way down the page is a 'manage attachments' option.

It may even appear when you reply to a post without having to 'go advanced'. Under Additional Options there is a 'Attach Files' area with a 'manage attachments' button.

Well, what operating system are you using?

    I am using XP on this PC and the saves are in;

    C:\Documents and Settings\myuserid\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\save_games

There is a similar appdata folder in Vista - if you have a run diaglog box run %appdata% if you don't press the 'windows' key + R and then run %appdata%.

Read the first and last links in the first post in the following link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=167821

it explains what the 'virtual store' is and where to find it.

I somehow think your hating Vista is your lack of knowledge. Many people use Vista without problems.

It's not in your Steam location it's in the 'virtual store'.

I Think this is the problem, my User folder is installed on my C drive. I installed Steam, and therefor Empire Total War on my D drive, So I thinkt that's the reason why I can't find the ETW folder in my virtual store

Funny enough I had this same problem yesterday! I tried replaying the same mission 3 times....

In the end I just edited the registry and unlocked all the chapters, then just loaded the next level..

you can do this by going to start/run then type regedit

then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/THE CREATIVE ASSEMBLY/EMPIRE

once you click on EMPIRE you will see "ep_unlock" on the right hand side, you just right click on it and go modify, then enter the number 5, click ok and you are done, all chapters should now be unlocked.

I've had the same problem with Episode 2. I did the registry edit like demowhc explained, and everything works. Anyone with the same problem, I recommend trying this.
