    Default The tw.org refugees thread

    Hello.

Let me present myself, my name is Caius Flaminius, Senior Member of the totalwar.org community.
We are looking for a refugy, as the forums are down. So many times there were twcenter refugees in our community so I thought it would be a great idea to come here and to meet you guys (and to wait some orgah also)

    See you.

    CF

New forum for Orgahs - pannonian.

There's a new forum called the Org Tavern, which can be used as a place for exiled Orgahs to chat, debate, and play games in, just as the original Tavern is. It is invitation only, a subforum of the Thema Devia which will be visible once you have access. If you're an Orgah exile of good behaviour and you'd like access, PM pannonian or Aradan.

I tried to log in to the org around 5:20PM yesterday and it was barely functional. I've tried several more times today with the same result, so I decided to come here on a refugee hunt. I find this thread ... and find I can't log in to my account here because I've lost my password and the account's linked to my old, deleted email address. So here I am in abbreviated form sans my geisha avatar; hopefully the admin here can help me get back into my proper account.

With regard to back ups, I have no reason at all to think we might not have them.

Andres, did you use the tworg address? Or do you have another (if so, no need to give it). The tosainu one gets so much spam he doesn't read it. I have an alternate contact but it relies on him logging in to msm and I know he won't be doing that any time soon.

Please use PM to pass email addresses. I don't want bots to farm emails from the public forums.

Hey froggy. Yes, I used his admin adress.

TinCow found a way to acces the forums, namely by using a web proxy.

You can find the explanation in the Org archives (http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/archiv.../t-117022.html).

Apparently, if you acces the forum using a proxy, all looks normal.

I'm clueless, but if the archives are intact and if the forum looks ok when browsing it using a proxy, I think we can assume it's not that bad.

Thanks to pannonian for rescuing my account.

So that's how Tincow had managed to post. I could see a new topic started by him amongst the wreckage; it wouldn't open and I couldn't locate the message body amongst the HTML stream the site gave instead.

I shall leave msm running in the very, very slender chance he logs in once he finds the org broken. No harm in trying; I'm going to be writing for a while anyway.

You are always welcome to our metropolis.

I've always wondered how we ended up bigger than you guys, since you have the .org and whatnot. Regardless, make yourselves comfortable.

I've never known the answer to that question. We just see it as a reality, and if you wish to join us, you are welcome. We don't mind being a "small" forum (compared to the system that you use here). In the .org, you are a Junior Member, you get promoted to Member, if you become a good Member you are promoted to Senior Member. Some SM get promoted to Assistant Moderators, and some get promoted to Moderators. There aren't "patronages" (may someone explain what does that mean?).

    Thanks.

It's basically, current "members" (or citizens) nominate "junior members" to be promoted to the citizenry for good work done for the community. Some complain it's an old boys' club, but it works pretty well. Yeah here it is, on the FAQ

To become a citizen of TWC you first have to meet the qualifications. These are set pretty low and it's not a case of everyone who meets these gets the rank automatically. To qualify for Citizen, a member must have at least fifty posts, been a registered member for one month, and have no warnings within the last six months. Non-point infractions or 'notes' are not factored into this.
Above and beyond these basic standards, the rank is then awarded for contributions. So if you think you make a valuable contribution to the site, chances are you're citizen material.
To get promoted you have to be patronised by an existing citizen. There are two ways this can happen. The most common is for a citizen to notice your contributions and send you a PM asking if you'd like the rank. If however, you think you are worthy, you don't have to wait to be noticed! You can PM a citizen directly and ask if they will sponsor you. Only those citizens who have themselves held their rank for 3 months can patronise.
If you get asked, or a citizen agrees to patronise you, you then have to write a short paragraph explaining why you want to be a citizen and why you think you are worthy. Keep in mind that the better you present your case to the CdeC, the more likely you will be considered citizen material. Include links to your most worthy contributions, be they modifications tools or work, or well-composed debates. PM the paragraph to your patron; they'll add their own comments and PM both to a member of the Consilium de Civitate. The CdeC will then take a week to discuss and vote on you. If you get 60% of the non abstaining votes, you'll receive a PM from the Curator congratulating you, and have your rank, a shiny new badge, and all the privileges of being recognised as one of TWC's outstanding members!
If, for whatever reason, you should fail the vote you must wait 1 month before you can apply again

Somebody shall explain the patronage system shortly. It's frankly not that complicated.

Just to clarify Caius, the system is not quite like that. But its ok Caius, we still love you.

I doubt anyone really will pay attention, but PAY ATTENTION!

When you join the .org, you are a Junior Member. This is simply a phase to make sure you are human and not a spam bot. After a few weeks, you are promoted to a normal member, with posting rights everywhere (apart from the political discussion forum, the Backroom and the mafia games area, the Gameroom both of which you request access to, in case you didnt want to see those areas. Above members are the 'equal' level ranks of Assistant Moderator and Senior Member. Senior Members are just honoured members, who has given an outstanding contribution to the org. Around 6-12 are given this rank every year. (edit: mods vote on who gets 'promoted') Assistant Mods are there to help the full moderators by soft deleting and closing/pinning threads and so forth. Moderators are in Green and perform the typical duties, such as giving out warning points, deleting threads and so forth. The Admins are in red and run the site, each performing a different task. For some reason I have the idea that we have 3, but I think that may actually be 1 or 2. TosaInu is the only one members need to contact anyway.

Apart from that, there is the purple group, for Creative Assembly employees. Their posts are marked with a special symbol in the subforum, noting which threads have been posted in by them.

So my SM friend Caius, we shall abide somewhere until our home is up.

For why its down, I think its a problem with the host. I kinda think they got angry.
