Probably a stupid question, but is this compatible with 1.1 and RC?
No it's just an EDU balancing.. and no offense to the creator (I really am striving to keep my cool these days) RC's stats make more logical sense... and they kind of make this submod useless... though in all honesty I fail to see the point of making a whole submod that just balances a unit... isn't that a waste of time?
He has dismounted the Nazgul and his bodyguard.
This fits much better imho as nazgul were immortal but horses weren't. So it woul be inevitable the Nazgul would fight on foot eventually (horses were only used for transport anyway weren't they?)
Not to mention seeing Nazgul and Numorians (dono spelling) march towards the goody elves or pathetic Gondor is just that much cooler. This with the immortal Nazgul mod has made me switch from OOTMM to Moria just because of the character Moria now has as a faction.
Dismounted Nazgul are cool, but I don't really agree with your logic here. It seems to imply that if a Nazgul's horse were to die (being that it's not immortal, which I do agree with) that it wouldn't have the tenacity or resourcefulness to acquire a new one? And would be doomed to walking the rest of it's immortal life on foot? Yeah, I don't think so. They would either get a new one or replace it with something better, like a Fellbeast, for example.
But with a name like "Butmunkie" I suppose you're not expected to think your post through thoroughly!
--No offence mate, btw, just having a bit o' fun.
He didnt dismount them... anitgosnos (sp?) did that already
@JonSnow: eh... no?
there was 2 added units in the "additional units" that you get with the RC mod: Dismounted Nazugls (a unit of just nazguls, not available in the campaign, only in custom battles) and Dismounted Black Numenorians (a unit of just black numenorians on foot... without a nazgul).
the generals bodyguard consisting of black numenorians were untouched and still mounted.
so i did dismount them, thank you very much.
secondly, this mod is not only compatible with 1.1 and RC 1.1... it REQUIRES it... it is based on the RC mod and therefor includes all the balancing that PB has done on all the other units in the game.
the only balancing ive done is to get the "feel" right of the Dismounted Nazgul general with his bodyguard of Black Numenorians.
now... please stop wasting your time posting useless answers in this thread (no offence)
@ Marceror:
While I agree I was more talking about within the battle itself. The wringwraith isn't gonna yell "I'll be right back" and grab another horse mid battle
Also the name Butmunkie is a relic of online gaming for many years. Perhaps I should change it now since im no longer a 12yr old counterstrike player
@ JonSnow;
Since you wrote that thread apologising for your attitude it hasn't improved. You simply apologise everytime now. I think the old addage 'Nothing nice to say? Say nothing' applies

Yeah, okay. I can roll with your logic a lot more easily in that context.
To quote the Starsky & Hutch movie: DO IT!Also the name Butmunkie is a relic of online gaming for many years. Perhaps I should change it now since im no longer a 12yr old counterstrike player![]()
I think your posts will be taken a lot more seriously under a "less 12yr old counterstrike player" moniker, yes. Of course, that's just my 2 cents on the matter.
Cheers Oddball. Its good to have a heavy infantry bodyguard that are not Uruks... which are a bit underwhelming for being a bodygaurd unit. With the immortal nazgul mod thisll make Mordor incredibly strong though- Im dreading a gondor compaign and having to fight my way through four or five nazgul bodyguard units.
well thats why im doing all this balancing...
but basically theyre not that much stronger than their mounted predecessors... theyve got a higher attack value (to represent the fact that the nazgul would do most of the killing) and 2 hitpoints instead of 1.
but then again theyre half the size and really slow...
in one battle against gondor forces i had 2 of these units together with regular orcs and stuff and one unit was actually down to just the nazgul and 1 numenorian at the end of the battle... so it is indeed possible to fight them and win, but just like most other strong units they can be abused...
i doubt, however, that the AI will bunch all of its generals into one army and attack in the normal course of a campaign... unless youre attacking sourons tower itself of course... in witch case you really should expect the nazguls to fight to the very last end hehe
PS. this mod will be for RC and Immortal Nazguls.
you cant play it without both of those... so thats why im doing the extra balancing... otherwise i would probarbly have released this earlier...
Question, does this change ALL nazgul to dismounted or just some? I'd hope to at least keep the 3 original Nazgul mounted, for variety and to keep at least a few horses at Mordor's disposal.
actually... all...
its certainly possible to make them both, but thats kinda complicated and not in my goals.
youre welcome to do it yourself tho (im crap at modding and i can do it... so you could definately learn how to do it too)
well it would certainly be possible... but that unit is rather large for a bodyguard unit... so some balancing would have to be done...
but should marceror want to continue on this mod once i release it, that is certainly one way to do it...
personally tho, i want all the nazguls on foot.
Im sorry guys... it seems ill be keeping this one to myself.
apparantly i havent made enough of a change according to KK and i also should have asked to "use" the nazgul and numenorian models.
so i think ill stop modding since i can only do small stuff like this...
