This show is really funny and really bleak and forces me to take a long hard look at myself.

Just finished Season 1. Episode 11 is simultaneously a drug induced fantasy & a masterpiece in animation and editing.

Why bleak? (haven't watched any of it, asking to establish if it might be of interest)

This is a documentary of a documentary of a Found footage that has been done a la Blairwitch Project.

Watched The Girl from Plainville.
This was impossibly boring, but also convoluted. Maybe it's that they stuck to actual events, but I doubt it (because the convoluted part has to do with actual intentions of the protagonist).
Either way, they made the story far too unattractive.

This has Sevigny, who I remembered primarily from her debut in the 1995 film, Kids. Damn, how people age :/ We need youth restoration tech asap

So, in the end, after re-watching Nobody, I forced myself into watching John Wick 1, and I have to be honest, now I know why so many people love that movie. Mr Reeves is such a great actor that he's able to transfer humanity (and thus credibility) into every character he plays. Sure, those are bang bang movies, everybody is recovering from injuries and wounds like they have hit-points as in D&D, but ATL you don't see the hero as being invulnerable and immortal.

And at the beginning of the movie, when I realized it was the dying dog that left that stripe of blood, while she crawled to the wounded and unconscious John, and that then she died at his side.. motherer, you don't need to be John Wick to find the rage necessary to carry on that revenge.. he was even too kind, IMO.

So, in the end, after re-watching Nobody, I forced myself into watching John Wick 1, and I have to be honest, now I know why so many people love that movie. Watched 2 & 3. They both lack the emotional connection of the first one. I liked the 3rd most, the "battle" scene at the hotel, with the shotguns, is simply epic. I don't like at all how they depict the Camorra, those fellas are reckless and brutal killers, not sophisticated businessmen with a taste for Shakespeare's drama.

All in all it's mostly an adrenaline experience (one should really watch all the movies in one shot, included fourth, as the story is de facto one single, connected strip of events, divided in 4 movies), to get the best of them. Looking forward for the 4th, my lust for blood is not satisfied yet.

It's been 9 or 8 years since I watched the first one.
In my opinion it should have ended with the 3rd film giving closure and peace to the protagonist a similar way to Christian Bale's Dark Knight trilogy.
I'd rather watch that trilogy again, Wick has become weak by becoming tedious, even Baltimore doesn't have that many gangsters.

A quantum suspension of disbelief is almost always an expected requirement before one can enjoy modern action films but seriously now?
One can survive an airplane crashing vertically into the ground by "refusing to die"?
How is that not a Marvel action film?


Other than that:
A) Everybody hates nazis (so much so that even the Finns make films with nazis as the bad guys), that it is almost always satisfactory to watch them get punished.
B) Have we all seen enough of that already?
C) Are there any Finns who have seen it and can comment on how the concept of "sisu" is shown in the film?

the last thing I thought was "I must apply as a henchman in New York, there must be a serious shortage". Silly jokes aside, definitely the only one who posed a decent challenge to Wick was the first one, the Russian.. even the "Japanese" on the 3rd one is just a silly filler, pretty stupid character IMO.

This reminds me of one of the Austin Powers (IMS) films roasting the James Bond franchise on the availability and ease of recruitment of henchmen.
The really funny scene was the old woman inquiring for her (henchman) son who had not communicated with her for some time.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse

Somewhat decent.
Nothing to write to your sweetheart at home though.
Artwork was nice, animation ok.
Story was kinda meh.

I hate Marvel & their overreliance on human feelings.

Last Sentinel (2023)

Very long & very boring.
Longest End of the World film ever.
Essentially, not much of value happens.
Some people die but you're not invested enough to care, because of long, boring script.

This is either a black comedy, a clever allegory, a bad LSD trip or all of the above.

What can I say?

People fix themselves.
Nobody fixes anyone.
Everyone should do the work on themselves by themselves.

Not going to go more into details here.
Watch the show & you'll understand.

Honestly, for me, this show has been like therapy.
Made me realize a few things about my life, my journey & my parents.
