Default The "I just saw" thread

We have a thread for books, and a thread for music, so here's the "I just saw thread".

I just saw Wolverine and enjoyed it. There were some cliches in the dialogue, actually all the dialogue wasn't that good, but the action was. It really just reminded everyone not to with Wolverine.

Just saw Wolverine too, thought it pretty ordinary compared to the comics and other films. Going to watch that new Ron Howard film Angels and Demons in a couple of days, I'll post back with my review.

Over the weekend my girlfriend and on went on a movie spree and went to see Wolverine and Star Trek, I was pleased with both and I give star trek 8/10 and Wolverine 8.5/10.

Star Trek was AWESOME, The humor was good!

I just saw the first three episodes of Gundam 0083, and am continuing watching it on hulu.

I mean, not for the first time obviously; just...seeing it. Again. It's been a while since they showed it on TV. <<

I just saw three Ken Loach films:
My Name Is Joe - By turns humerous and tragic. A tale of a recovered alcoholic strugling to stay sober and get by in Glasgow whilst helping out his delinquent friends and falling in love.
Ladybird, Ladybird - Based on the true story of a woman who controversially had four children, and then another, and then another, taken away from her by the social services.
It's a Free World - A young woman sets up an international employment agency after being losing from yet another job, and is sucked into the murky world of semi-legal and illegal workers.

Anyone who likes social realism in their films will love Ken Loach. His particular attention to keeping dialogue natural, and insistence on only using actors from the areas his films are set, including many non-professionals makes for a rare degree of authenticity. He's one of the greatest British directors ever in my opinion. But if you require thrills, obvious gags or ostentatious sexuality to enjoy a film stay well away.

I just saw Chogyeogya (or something, Chaser in English), a Korean movie supposedly in the vein of Oldboy.

But that comparison sets you nup for a mild disappointment, Oldboy is vastly superior. However taken on it's own it's an enjoyable movie.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

just saw Wolverine and taught...whoa a classic hollywood movie. Then I pitied for the chick. Action and the guy who played Wolverine was fine though.

I also saw Memento(2001)....now thats a movie. A very weird, confusing and awesome movie.
"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."

    Angels and Demons.

5/10 Would probably have been a better movie if I had not already read the book.

I saw Wolverine at my own house, though it was still unfinished. I thought it was better than the previous three movies. A lot more action.

The leak? I heard it was without a lot of CGI and the like. You should at least check it out at a matinee. It was worth a matinee price.

Just saw Angels and Demons. Didn't mind it, more fast paced and compact than the book. But hey that how you get an audience's attention for over 2 hours. 7/10

I just saw 50 First Dates yesterday. More sappy romance than comedy; then again, I wasn't expecting it to be funny. Still a good film.

I'm about to see Righteous Kill (putting the DVD into the player as we speak), so, needless to say, I'm excited as hell.

I watched Crank last night and I can honestly say, you have to watch this movie.

It was probably the worst movie I have ever seen. Worse than: Wrong Turn, Jaws 4 and Open Water.

But it was that bad you just have to watch it for the sheer stupidity. I'm looking forward to the shitness which Crank 2 will deliver.
