Default AI building units when under siege?

Playing as Harad, I sent my corsairs on a raiding party up the Gondorian coast and finding a lightly defended Dol Amroth (3 x Militia) decided to attack and sack the city. So I put it under siege, hit end turn, and the Gondorians decided to sally forth and attack me, but suddenly their army had grown to 12 units, including 3 Dismounted Swan Knights!

As I beat a hasty retreat I was like "where the hell did they come from?" I thought you couldn't build units under siege, and if you can, certainly not that many at once. Is this a bug? An AI cheat?

garrison script. a needed evil because the AI sucks at defending cities without it the games way to easy cause you can just sack a city and move onto the next really easily.

OK, thanks for that. I'd heard people talk about this "garrison script" without ever knowing what it was. Guess I'd better tech up by Southron Empire and get me some more heavy infantry!

Easiest way to deal with a garrison script: attack without sieging... use catapults and capture the city without it ever going through a turn of siege... bypasses the script and still makes you build large and slow/expensive units to pull it off.

That being said, I really do like the garrison script, as it saves AI vs AI stupidty from ruining the game

Also it's useful if some little stack of AI troops walks nearby a city with garrison script.you just attack it,and the defenders interfere...they would best not

The garrison script claims another victim.
