I think it is just killing the will of people who want to do something. It is just fan made mod, it is not necessary to limit it IMO. and everyone is not professional like D.G. and although they do worse work than D.G. we should respect, because they gave time for it.
In any case modeller and skinner is not so much at this forum and we should support them instead of impeding...
Well, imagine that you create, with much hard effort, your best painting up to date.
Then you publish it and find that some people (who are not artists) do not like it, and want to change it.
They take it and change a few colours and then release it as "painting improved".
So the original artist basically see how his "children" (work of which he is proud) is being used by people who will not improve in any way the original
The artist make it so his work must remain unaltered and if someone wants to change it then he must have the artist´s approval. To avoid "copies modified" of the original version running around without the artist knowing.
I think is pretty clear. If you want to modify something from DG just tell him first, and if it´s something useful (or original, well done) i am pretty sure that he´ll give permission.
so do not release them, just sell. It is not what the modding is.
everyone likes different colours, different things in this life so they can change however they want but ''painting improved'' is not ethic word as you said. just if someone changes and shares it, he can thank its creator and say this is what i like and I am sharing it.
what changes if someone uses his part of skins with new model and then thank to D.G.?
It is not insulting, it is something to be proud IMO.
I have only been asked by 3 peole despite all of the discussion in this thread, mainly by people who seem to not be doing any modding. Of those three 1 got permission, 1 got a deferral until I could see some actual work (they planned extensive use of the textures and models but hadn't done anything like this before so I could not FAIRLY judge what they would be doing. Since they had a huge scope, creating some work independent of mine I didn't see as an issue). And 1 person was requested not to use them. They are in fact the first person I have EVER, in my 5 years of being in this community out of the hundreds (possibly thousands) of requests I have recieved declined to allow. And in all likelyhood they will get permission down the line.
As to the long winded post claiming I was rude for explaining moral rights. Your a tad sensitve mate. That wasn't rude, but saying your post was long winded and pointless. That was rude. So now you can complain that I am rude and unreasonable, even though my position is THE EXACT position of this forums administrators. I'm pretty sure I explained myself, that I do not wish to see my works altered in a that I feel "destroys" their original intent. Whats so hard to grasp. In fact everyone in this thread is looking far to deeply. This has nothing to do with other mod team members. Notice how the announcement title is mention only works by me. Obviously the same rules apply to work by KK or Shredder. But I am merely reminding people and explaining MY rules to them. Stop digging for deeper meaning. If you want to use my textures or models to ALTER them ASK ME VIA PM FIRST. IN ALL LIKELYHOOD YOU WILL BE GIVEN PERMISSION.
What is it with this community and its ability to get riled up over nothing. I've been applying these rules to all my works releases for years and this is the first time that have a bunch of people (not even people modding) are complaining about them. You guys drive me insane.

Well that one seems easy enough, actually. He's the only modder on the team who has decided to invoke his right in this way. If you wanted to make a TATW submod that didn't include the models/skins created by DG, you wouldn't need to request permission. Hope that clarifies that matter for you.
good now thats settled time for this section closed and back to work DG "cracks whip" i want to see eriador up to the same amazing standard you did to rhunj/k
oh theyre just annoyed that you brought out the rule to their attention... they all knew it was there, but they could conveniently ignore it (like jaywalking) but now that you brought it out they were reminded that someone actually created all this stuff, and if they want to change that stuff the polite thing to do is to ask for permission...
in all my days as a modder (not that ive done anything big or nothing, but still... ive modified other peoples stuff) ive never ever been declined a request to use someones stuff in a mod...
ask first... its just a polite thing to do...
EDIT: also, this mostly goes to modding artistic work... not coding for some reason... i know that might sound wierd but i guess people think it takes more talent to do artistic modding than coding... go figure...
if D.G. lets people use his works by requesting permission and adding him to credits, I see no problem.
Imo, just close the topic already ;d If someone is too ignorant to see this thread on the top of the page and not even care to send a PM then ... let TWcenter mods deal with him already. Enough arguing![]()

I had read your original post completely, and understood it. It was your later posts that got me a little off track, and I just wanted to reconcile things. The message here is, "when in doubt, refer to the original post."
Got it. Thx.
Well, lucky for us, great Leonardo didn't paint Mona Lisa in our times. Imagine now, if any1 want to do his version of ML, he should ask Leonardo for permission!? Original is original, it can be billions of ML, but only one is original. Same with work of DisgruntledGoat. Or some of the moders here are something ultra-turbo-special, that their work is beyond imagination!? What a crap!
I don't know DG from Adam, but something tells me... he's not in the mood for your jokes. Call it a hunch!![]()
