    Default Rhine/US Minimod Released

    US/Rhine Minimod
    Version 0.8

I am pleased and proud to present the US/Rhine minimod, version 0.8 for release and download. This minimod has been under work for just over two month's now, and it has completely new skins, flags and a lot of new UI cards. It features:

    • The USA faction
    • The Rhine Confederation faction
    • Some more units for the already exsisting factions
    Here is the download link:

    http://files.filefront.com/USRhine+0.../fileinfo.html

To install simply run the Setup which you download, point installation towards the directory where your Napoleonic folder is installed and run it.

This mod will completely overwrite the Brunswick and Portugal factions. Portions of these factions have instead been transferred to the bigger ones (For example the Portugese units now feature as part of the British Army roster).

This is only version 0.8. There will be bugs, mistakes and problems; these will be fixed (And quickly due to the size of this minimod). It will help if you can report anything to me so I can start fixing. If you like the extra units, and have a good idea for some more then suggest them to me, I will be happy to include them in the next version. The unit stats in this are also unbalanced, and I would appreciate for some balancing advice.

I would alos like to state again: This is a Community mod, and is not made, created or supported by the Lordz/ NTW2 Modding team.

The next version will feature more UI cards, more refined skins, some maps to portray the American front and even more units.

Comments? Opinions? I would really appreciate some feedback here!

I'll post some screenshots later if anyone is reluctant to download.

Its actually very good-I like the us faction. my advice though is to depict the regulars in Blue, not slate grey (unless its meant to be faded blue?). It would be ver good to link the units there to the english voice mod only. but I know this is still beta, so I can wait

but I have a question on the US: who on earth are these guys in white?

and why did you all replace the Brunswick and protuguese factions? you could have just open new faction slots IMHO. I can even guide you to do so, onec I find the links.

EDIT: do you have any comments about my recent discovery? I'm surprised no one responded, considering how making men go shoulder to shoulder was once thought to be undoable. I need people to compare and test the results I have, to detect and perhaps fix any bugs I might have.

The American Line is greyish? Are you talking about Ameircan Line or American Lights? The lights are grey but I'll have another look later. I also forgot about the voices; will fix that in the next version.

but I have a question on the US: who on earth are these guys in white?
They need quite a lot of refining and fixing but that is the Southern infantry. They are not infantry from the Southern states but rather they are wearing the US summer uniform; which is more common to the South.

As for the faction slots; I did do it but ran into the model_battles limitation with the new models I put into the game. Had to choose and they seemed the best to go; both did play major parts but were small enough factions to include with the larger influencers. I will work towards getting the other two back in.

These forums have been a bit quiet lately. I does look like a good idea, and when standing still they are quite good; the only problem from your screenshots is when they are firing and marching. The firing sequence it looks a bit cluttered and the marching a bit clumsy with the running animations from R:TW. I can see it working though.

I was talking about the line: the slate grey was on them. I was under the impression that the US line was typically arrayed in blue. the cavalry was also in the wierd slate grey color. I though tha they wore either blue or green

but Its known to me that the lights were grey (blue is also ok for the lights). I can wait on this.

I see. I think that is a good idea.

I know-the formation is a little too close; once I made it 0.6x0.8, it was way more realistic, but still shoulder to shoulder in perfect formation. I'm thinking of somehow changing the marching formation, and introducing the goosestep for the more disciplined troops (i.e prussians, Royal guards, garde francais). assuming this isn't hardcoaded.

I haven't looked closely yet at the Rhine US minimods added units (for established factions),

but my minimodding work has led to a grenadier unit

the only problem with it is that its uniform is 1750's

Currently in this version of the minimod there are only five extra units for the other factions. They are Canadian Militia, Swiss Fusiliers, Italian Line Infantry and the Vistula Legion. I am currently searching around for some more units to add as extra units so if anyone else has some ideas such as this please voice them.

There are also several more units being made for the Rhine faction to further represent the diversity of the Army. At least two more line units will be added.

Could you please make them separate factions? I mean, I don't want to overwrite neither Brunschwick nor Portugal.

Yes I am working towards this for the next release. I originally deleted the two factions due to too many models; this issue can be easily solved. I will update this thread with some screenshots of new units. Some more units for the Rhine Confederation and some other extra units such as another Italian one, and several for the major factions.

Sorry for the double post but I have some screenshots to show, with the work on the new version underway.

THis new release has a bigger focus on fixing the major problems of 0.8; that is the faction replacement being a big one, but it will also feature some more units for the Rhine.

The first I present is the Sardinia Carabinieri a piedi. They are, obviously, an Italian unit to go along with the Italian Line Infantry already there. This unit will take its place in either Austria or Naples, or perhaps even the Rhine Confed.

This was an excellent addition to NTW2. I was a little disappointed with the grey uniforms (the Hollywood in me wanted Mel Gibson in blue), but the Rhine Confederation made up for it. I have been considering adding another faction: Tribes. Colonization was an important aspect of this era. I have considered lumping together Africans and Native Americans in a single faction to be used in recreating colonial battles.

you can double the amount of models in use.

You simply make the entry for mercenaries in the unit list. Then make them available to whatever nation you need in Custom battle to whatever faction you need. The mercenary faction shows up as a separate faction so you can use duplicate models.

This is good for say, making the Legion Irlandaise for France and not using a whole model slot; you can use the regular french line model and make them a merc. Then make them recruitable by France in Custom Battles. It's a great tool.
Yes, I hate the fact RTW is out and I still have a Japanese title. Come on now admins- let's get with the program.

Just an idea but if there was a shortage in funds for Blue uniforms for the US regulars than have their officers and other NCO's have blue and the rest grey... also. keep in mind that more elite units like grenadiers, and guards, but also more decorated line units would be more eligable to recieve the blue uniforms. Militia's and less decorated regular regiments would recieve the more grey. BUT! never forget that dies never last, during campaign the blue dye would dull and eventually grey through prolonged campaign.

I know in the American Civil war the Union and Confederates had trouble distinguishing from one an other and often friendly fire occured. Especialy early in the war since the blue dye was not of good quality, and also some rebel regiments also used the blue dye, later though the rebels eventually used their famous grey uniforms.
