It appears Mr. Camre, the enlightened Nordic European, can't even figure out that people in the Danish parliament have not been all over Denmark, yet they make decisions for all of it. Amazing how this has not "destroyed democracy."

I realize the SE Europe countries have some high levels of corruption, I'm as angry about it as the next person, but to claim "they are less intelligent" because of this?! Imagine the uproar if someone said this about Africans due to the high levels of corruption and political instability in Africa!

Well they are definitely less educated. Still the thing with politicians saying things like this means that they will usually get a few more votes because of it. Apparently it works to say extreme and stupid stuff, people hear you see you on the news and if you don't apologize for saying it then people will for some reason respect that and will be more likely to vote for you. All in all politically speaking this is a nightmare and a stupid thing to say, personally speaking for him it's probably a brilliant move.

Which has always struck me as a bit odd, because the leader of the DPP is usually swift and merciless if some of lower ranking members get a bit too, errr... patriotic. While some of the top-ranking members can get away with saying some pretty nutty stuff. It doesn't make much sense to kick out members who have a slip of tongue at a local meeting, while the top members can say nutty things in national medias. Oh well, at least they managed to convince him that it would be soooo much better if he went to the European parliament instead.
