Trolls climb walls

I'm not sure if this is a bug or something known that should be developed in future versions, but I think the dev knew about it, so I'll post it here.

I took the BlackGate and after a few turns, Mordor decided to sent a full elite stack to take it up again. They siege the citadel and after two turns they launched an assault. Everything in the battle was fine till a couple of OlogHai units started to climb up the second line walls through up their siege ladders. As there were just three trolls left after the arrow rain I sent them, there wasn't not much trouble.

I think troll units shouldn't be able to climb walls or defend them in case of a siege as it would be kind of impposible to defend or take these walls and of course, pretty unrealistic seeing a 5 metres tall and 1000kg (just guessing) creature climbing a small ladder.

Anyway, I don't think this is a bug but something should be changed in fututre realeses.

I actually quite like it! I do think the ladders are a bit flimsy to be able to carry that weight but were not talking about 16th Century history here are we?

I'd take it wit a pinch of salt.

No it's a fantasy mod, of course, but Tolkien didn't mention that the physics laws had a different behaviour in Middle Earth

Well you could also revamp the ladders into the Isengard ones. (Big ones)

One of the worst sieges I experienced is when I had Trolls not only coming up the ladders first but another bunch were pushing the ram and yet another group in a siege tower so I had a first wave of about 30 Trolls to deal with.

I've heard that it's because trolls are considered infantry,so it's impossible to deny them climbing the walls

I fear you are correct Beregond, the trolls are modelled on heavy inf skeletons and therefore can do what they damn well please!!

Not to mention that fact that I don't have the balls to walk up to a group of Olog Hai and tell them they can't climb that ladder

I agree Trolls are not suppose to clime.
The need to charge the gates ... like in the movies and books.

If they were going to charge the gates they would need to be modelled on elephant skeletons I think...you know how elephants can knock down gates, an infantry skeleton cannot do that.

It would be good though, I loved that sight in the film of the troll using a hammer to break down one of the inner gates in minas tirith, it'd be such an intense in-game moment

Guys. Trolls are infantry. We can't forbid them to climb walls and carry siege equipment. It's in game engine. We tried to make them as elefants(than they could crush wooden walls and can't climb) but result was very bad so they are as they are. And btw: what strangwe with trolls on walls. Stone walls at least are strong enought to carry troll.

yeah, but how do they get up there? through 2 meter tall doors or ladders made of sticks?

haha.. I suggest isengard type ladders for evil factions as Muffer suggested, or can there only be one type of ladder??

and err.... Bucefalo, how would they fit through the small doors?
