Default Traitor blames war for crime, jury says no deal...

Ex-GI convicted in Iraq rape, 4 slayings

    Posted : Thursday May 7, 2009 17:34:29 EDT

PADUCAH, Kentucky — A jury has convicted an ex-soldier of raping a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and fatally shooting her after killing her parents and younger sister.

The verdict came Thursday in a civilian Kentucky court against former Pfc. Steven Dale Green.

The 24-year-old faces a possible death sentence when the penalty phase of the trial begins Monday. Green had been discharged from the Army before he was charged in the Iraq crimes.

The verdict follows more than 10 hours of jury deliberations after a trial that began April 27.

Green’s defense team had asked jurors to consider the “context” of war, saying soldiers lacked leadership and received little help from the Army to deal with the loss of friends in combat.

Good, I hope they execute his ass. Or throw him into Gitmo with the rest of the terrorists.

What about the rest of them ??
Wasn't there a few others involved in this or was that another case similar to this one ?

Anyway, I won't feel pity for this man.

Hand him over to the Iraqis, I'm sure they can deal with him just fine...

    This

Well except for the locked up part. A civilized society put its dangerous animals to death.

Well, I'm against the death penalty in this day and age, so even for him it's undeserved and barbaric.
And besides, spending the rest of his life in prison is much worse than being put to sleep. At least if the rumours I've heard about what they do to people who rape kids in prison are true...

They were already tried and sentenced by military courts.

This guy was kicked out before he got the trial, so they had to jump through more hoops to prosecute him.

Three others who participated got 90, 100 and 110 years.

The person who covered up for them got 27 months and a dishonorable discharge.

    Good they deserved nothing less.
But I do hope the defense don't work.
If he does get the death penality, I wonder if they will invite the rest of the family of the victims over to the US to see the execution.
Pretty sure some of them would love to see this man die.

Wars bring out the best, and unfortunately, the worst in some people. This guy deserves whatever harsh treatment he receives. Your buddies dying gives no right to rape and kill innocents.

Throw him in the village where he commited this crime. They'll deal with him.

Also, tell the fellow prisoners and guards besides raping children, murdering children and other civilians he also murdered American Soldiers. That will make him very popular.

Shadow: They get the beaten out of them on a daily basis and the guards turn the other way.

Apparently he is especially hated in the 101st Airborne because his actions dishonored their division and resulted in the hideous deaths of the 101st Airborne soldiers.
    I'm assuming you mean indirectly?

    yea...

Though I forget where I saw that so I edited the statement about the 101st out, but his actions did lead to at least two soldiers of the 101st being killed.

God man, how are they going to try that defense? It's someone else's fault because of a lack of leadership? A lack of leadership doesn't make someone pull this kind disgusting act. Burn him.

This piece of crap dishonored the uniform he wore and committed one of the most sickening and atrocious crimes I've ever heard of. To say that he made the situation more dangerous for honorable American soldiers still serving and cast a shadow over their efforts is a gross understatement.

That he is a traitorous rat is a fact, he should thank God that he won't likely be turned over to the Iraqis for justice. I'm pretty sure they would quickly make him envy the fate of his victims.

I usually do not support the death penalty, however in this case there can be no doubt of his guilt and the severity of the crime almost make me think that in his case it would be appropriate. On the other hand, locking him up for life with no possibility of parole would be enough to make certain that he suffered decades of loneliness and despair away from whatever friends and family he has that are stupid enough to still acknowledge him. And finally a simple hole in the ground with nothing to commemorate his existence when he finally makes his very deserved trip to hell.

Good let this filth rot in a prison...no death penalty too easy. His crime is horrorfic enough that he would do that to a little girl and kill her family its made even worse in the context of his actions impact other lives in Iraq.
