Default The UK vs the EU, anyone got some good sources on this?

I've got to write an essay on the history of UK/EU relations, so I want to focus in particular on the 60's/70's as those were the times where the UK initially wanted to join but didn't get allowed by France, until they eventually did join and have been somewhat of an outcast ever since.

I'm not at all sure where to start looking, but maybe there's some brits around here who got some good stuff to help me out? Anything would be most appreciated, as I'm afraid that I'm not even remotely familiar with the subject.
I have approximate answers and possible beliefs, and different degrees of certainty about different things, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything, and many things I don’t know anything about. But I don’t have to know an answer. I don’t feel frightened by not knowing.

Well that's just the generally established canon in a short paragraph. Thanks, but I'm going to need a lot more than that as source material for an essay.

Was wondering if perhaps there's any good articles or pieces on this that have been published on the net? I'm doing my own share of googling but it's hard to really nail the topic.
