Default RTR VII: TIC Patch 1.2 - Released

RTR VII: The Iberian Conflict (TIC) - Patch 1.2

The Rome Total Realism team is happy to announce that the RTR VII: TIC Patch 1.2, or TIC Gold, is now available for download. TIC Gold is a series of amendments and "fixes", kindly compiled for us by Florin80, which put the finishing touches to the TIC campaign. The changes include:

    • the Greek Thureophoroi model was adjusted to work better with the over hand animation. The spear will no longer pass through shoulder and head in standby position.
    • the shared "barbarian" slinger model was adjusted so that the mustache of the celt is properly displayed.
    • the Iberian Elite Scutarii model was adjusted to fix the small white line it had above the shield.
    • the Numidian Cavalry model has been edited to add a belt across the chest(as the Libyan Javelinmen has) so that the sword will not hang on air anymore.
    • the Punic Thureophoroi model was edited to fix the white line that divided the tunic vertically.
    • the Greek Hoplite model was edited to fix a glitch to the helmet.
    • a new Carthaginian elephant crew was created based on the Libyan Javelinemen unit. All Forest Elephants use the same DMB entry now so the old ones were deleted as they were unused anymore.
    • the Celtic Skirmishers have been renamed Keltoi Javelinmen and they now have an adequate description.
    • the Numidian Cavalry will now ride horses with no saddles or bridles as they are described in some sources. A new mount entry was created for this.
    • Mercenary_Unit attribute removed from "custom cf Greek Thureophoroi" because they are a faction unit for the custom battles.
    • the No_Custom attribute removed for the Carthaginian Towered Elephants so they`ll be available for custom battles too.
    • the wife of the starting Turdetani heir (non faction leader) has been made the daughter of the faction leader(Indortes). This was necessary to prevent the chances (small as they were in this particular case) of the cloned character CTD happening later in the campaign.
    • the character names of all factions have been changed using the lists researched by the RTR VII team.
    • the Barca surname is now implemented via a special trait. The under aged members of the family will acquire it when coming of age.
    • the script has been slightly changed to place Indortes in a different tile for the "The Turdetanian King has sallied out..." episode to prevent a side-effect of the reposition_character command which resulted in Indortes becoming invisible.

    Credits:

As stated above, this patch initiative was conceived and driven by Florin80, so we have to thank him for his work on getting this patch to you, and he has also asked that the following credits be attributed:

    • Bladerunner900 - for editing the shared slingers, the greek thureophoroi, the punic thureophoroi and greek hoplite models, and compiling the TIC 1.2 Patch installer together.
    • Bucellarii - for researching many of the new Iberian names.
    • Salvor Hardin - for editing the Numidian Cavalry model and ajusting the Libyan Javelineers for the Carthaginian elephant crew.
    • Morfeasnikos - for editing the Elite Iberian Scutarii model.
    • Uranos - for making the UI cards for the two Carthaginian Elephants and the Numidian Light Cavalry.
    • Aradan - for making the Barca trait.
    • HouseOfHam - for his help with the script.
    • HamilcarBarca - for providing the description of the Keltoi Javelinmen and his contribution to the Iberian names.
    • Pinarius - for the texture of the Numidian horses.

So, on behalf of the team and all RTR enthusiasts, I extend our thanks to everyone mentioned above. In the event that someone has been missed, please let me know and I'll make sure that the omission is rectified.

    Installation Instructions*

    1. Install Rome Total War.
    2. Install Barbarian Invasion expansion.
    3. Install the BI v1.6 Patch.
    4. Download and install TIC 1.0 to the Rome - Total War directory.
    5. Download and install TIC Patch 1.1 to the Rome - Total War directory.
    6. Download and install TIC Patch 1.2 (see below) to the Rome - Total War directory.

TIC 1.2 is not fully savegame compatible, so it is recommended that a new campaign be started once you have installed it.

    Revolt CTD Fix

Warning ! : This "Fix" is only to be used if a CTD occurs during your TIC campaign.

    Revolt CTD Fix Download

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    1. decompress the file.
    2. copy the folder named TIC inside the game folder where you have installed the mod. You will be asked if you want to overwrite the existing files. Say yes.

Note#1: make a backup of the following two files so you can revert the changes if needed:
    export_descr_buildings
    export_descr_unit
(both found in this location: Rome - Total War\TIC\data)

Note#2: the fix should be saved game compatible so you can add only if and when the ctd occurs (you`d need a saved game prior to the crush obviously). Still, backup your saved games before trying the fix. Just in case.

Three months! You're obviously playing the "Short" campaign then.

Hey, sorry to bother but I cant seem to install the updates. I followed the instructions but when I check the game none of the changes have occured. Any suggestions?

BTW, its not a big deal since FOE is only a couple months away anyways.

Patch 1.2 does not introduce huge changes to the campaign, many of the improvements are subtle and might miss notice. However, there is a quick way to check if it has been loaded successfully. Look at the Carthaginian Towered Elephant in the battle at the beginning of the Carthaginian campaign. If the crew are wearing red tunics and are armed with javelins, instead of grey tunics and bows, then you know you have patch 1.2 installed and operational.

It might require the map.rwm to be deleted for the changes to be implementd if you are continuing an existing campaign

Iirc none of the two patches is saved game compatible. It would require starting a new campaign to get the changes implemented.

Does the 'Gold' say that this will be the last official TIC patch?

And if yes, can we conclude that in that case the next release will be FOE??
Will it be released soon? I'm affraid a gold patch for TIC will only keep me busy for a week...

I think TIC Gold will be our last take on the campaign as a separate entity, as we are hoping to incorporate it as a "Historic" campaign as part and parcel of the FOE release. Any further tweaking would be likely to be carried out as part of the overall package.

I wish I could give you a definitive date as to FOE's release , as even the one we are working to internally is only a guesstimate and dependent on everything going well and without hitch. However, progress is actually really good at the moment: a few key experienced team members have recently become active with the team again: and I really hate that "It will be done when it is done" type of response as I think all you fans deserve better than that.

So I'm gonna kind of make a leap of faith (and pray to the Gods that I don't jinx the project) and give you a realistic "window". You won't be playing FOE before three months, but you will be playing it before six.

Lol - I crossed all my fingers and toes, and sacrificed a herd of goats to Baal when I typed that, hopefully, to avoid jinxing everything.

goats are no good - you need to make a sacrifice in the tophet of your baby son!

When you don't have a baby son, would Baal be content with a baby-nephew?

Thanks for the estimated release date! I'll start crossing off the days on my calender.
