    Default Mines of Moria...

    Hey Guys.

First off great job on this mod. Playing as OOTMM and its even better than I expected! I am currently swarming Eriador with a plague of skirmishers and just managed to kite and ambush a High Elven party deep in the mines. Not only are these guys cool but they also fly against my regular playstyle. I play like an Elf with small numbers of elite units when I can so it's fun having entire stacks designed for suicide. Even though it sometimes makes me feel like a bad person

I really want to write up an AAR for these little fellas but there are two things which are ruining the immersion for me. These are:

    - Battles in the Mines of Moria/Misty Mountains are actually fought aboveground in the snow with trees. I felt a pang of disappointment as fighting on a battlemap that looks like caverns would just be the coolest.

    - All my assaults are night assaults (for pure style) however there is hardly any effect at all, my guys don't even bother with torches. I assume this has something to do with the snowfields we are fighting on but Orcs should be fighting in pitch black not slightly dimmed light.

So my question is whether there are *any* plans to modify said battlemaps in the future? I understand this is first release so many wanted features are not included. If however there are no plans to have this changed in relatively near releases can someone please provide me with a link to this new battlemap editor I've heard about and perhaps a tutorial on its use as well? I really feel strongly about this lol...

Finally do you know what would be causing the 'light darkness'? If this is because of the snow maps where can I find the relationships between Campaign Map X,Y and Battlemaps?

P.S Including Hobbiton would be great too. Nothing better than invading the shire! (yes im joking)

Well when everything would be pitch black you would see no right?

In chapter 4 of this AAR http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=254117 there is a battle at night. This is the level of darkness I'm after but not getting. It may be that my night attacks are occuring in the evening instead in which case I would need to remove this chance somewhere.

My main concern however is the battlemaps inside the misty mountains. If there are plans to change this already I won't bother, otherwise I will have a crack myself.

    Well,

That's true most of MM battlemaps are just flat, you have more hills and broken ground by fighting a bridge battle over northern Anduin. I believe caves is too much to expect but at least some hills or mountains in the back could add to the feeling (and of course mist since we are in the misty mountains !). So can't say Butmunkie is wrong .

OotMM are supposed to be quite awesome, I bet they fit my style of gameplay completely.
Strong infantry (Cave Trolls and Bodyguards) with an addition of units who are supposed to die (Skirmishers) And those who are behind them who are supposed to kill those who are making my useless units die (Archers), I love guerrilla style of war, it makes me feel so... Evil...

I'm totally green what is possible or not with MTW engine, but I was playing MTW by years so I want to share my ideas with users

    My Ideas about Moria.

    - start city -30% dwarven culture 70% orcish with mithril mines (very profitable)

    - start Moria as neutral/rebel faction with a lot of orcish soldiers

    - made some unique units for Dwarfs if they conquer Moria (Durin Legion or Barad Dur Royal Guards) heavy armored good statistic

    - made new retinue for Dwarf generals station here "Barad Dur King" with very good effects +1 command +5 authority and 10% for trade income bonus

    Balrog
    - Made a Balrog unit into Moria mines. Only for OOTM ,Isengard and Mordor faction to hiring this unit

only 1 Balrog for hiring 100 turns and only 1 unit.

When u have this unit it is not possible to hiring another.

I think that it is possible made more higher unit than trolls in the game with flames (my dream... ) and if it possible give this unit very good skills

    - 10 stars general (if possible playing unit as general)
    - good enchantment stuff retinue: "Flame of Udun"
    - high statistic (100 strenght power??)and made this unit almost immortal at the battlefield
    - give elven rings and one ring holders some percentages bonuses for general against Balrog

    MAIN IDEA
    - BALROG IS NOT MOVABLE UNIT AT THE CAMPAIGN MAP (I don't know that it is possible....)

The Balrog idea came up a few times here during development. There was at least one thread devoted to it. Short answer: no. Difficult to model and animate (from memory), lore-breaking, did not answer to Sauron (not controllable by any faction), once released it would likely run amok and destroy everything, and - some feel - pretty much unkillable.

Basically, it goes against the lore big time in multiple ways.

Yeah, i was somewhat disappointed too, fighting in the misty "mountains" and seeing a straight, flat plain.

However, this is just the first release and creating battlemaps isnt that hard, so i guess it'll be fine sooner or later.
Apart from that...any plans on adding a kind of blight-desert-like texture for mordor and deep misty mountain battlemaps?
