    Default Family members,generals and governors

I am very confused about family members..i come from a long period playing RomaSurrectum where you can recruit generals and governors and where you have lots of family members...

IJ3 (365AD campaign) features 2 members in the three, Valentinian I and his father!! The heir doesn't belong to imperial family...he is, like all others family members or generals cause i see a distinction, outside the three...

Ok the questions are: How do i recruit generals/Family members?? Is it normal that heir isn't part of imperial family??
30BC: Ottaviano Augusto becomes the first Imperator, in his 44 years of principate he will bring to the empire peace and prosperity!
70AD: Vespasiano is the winner of first great empire's civil war, rebuilding Roman world after the Nero's dark ages.
98AD: Traiano becomes imperator after that the senateman Nerva adopted him,he will start a gold age for the empire getting it to biggest extension!! 117AD-180AD Adriano,Antonino Pio and Marco Aurelio administrate the empire during his richest and most pacific period, with their good administration Rome lives its golden age.
193AD: Settimio Severo wins the civil war started after the death of Commodo starting the Severan dinasty, his heirs will not be as good as him. 252-285AD Rome lives the peak of III century's crisis, onli the emperor Aureliano will be able to reunite the empire breacked in 3 parts and the great reformer Diocleziano will give to Rome militar, politic and social cohesion after decades of caos. 325AD:Costantino rules alone over the empire and christianity is for the first time accepted by the imperial government.

Generals can be recruited. They are called equites stablesiani and can be recruited via a scriptorium and above, in some cities. The morale stats for these troops are not as good as say scholae or canditati units This is designed to prevent the player from recruitng lots of super generals. The idea to recruit generals is to act as governors for cities that currently do not have one.

The 361AD campaign starts with losts of characters already, so the BI engine wont give you characters to adopt for a while, not until you start running out of them. The 355Ad and 365AD campaigns start with less characters so the BI engine is more likely to offer up candidates earlier.

Yes, this is true, but he has a son who is about the come of age. When he does you will be norified via the "factions announcements" that he has come of age, but also is the heir to the throne and would you like to adopt him. If you want to, then you need to go into your family tree and select him to become heir.

Be warned though, once you select either offspring or anyone else for that matter as heir, then decide later to choose another character as your heir, then you increase the chances of the characrer becoming disloyal and possibly rebelling (no one likes being dumped)

Answered above. Also the game starts with an heir in case your leader dies and then game over!

    Hope this answers your concerns

    Cheers
