    Default White House Photo's

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The $328,835 snapshots of an Air Force One backup plane buzzing lower Manhattan last week will not be shown to the public, the White House said yesterday.

"We have no plans to release them," an aide to President Obama told The Post, refusing to comment further.

The sole purpose of the secret photo-op, which sent thousands of New Yorkers running for cover, was to take new publicity shots of the presidential jet over the city.

"The photos . . . are classified -- that's ridiculous," Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., said.
The photos have not technically been "classified," a White House aide said, but they are being kept from public view.

New Yorkers said they could not understand how a president who shares intimate snapshots from the White House could justify keeping these secret.

"So we're not gonna see the fruits of this cruel joke?" said Frank Antonelli, 39, one of the Wall Street traders spooked by last week's flyover.
    "
I'm not surprised. Obama . . . wouldn't further all the bad publicity by putting out those pictures."

And yet he can show us these
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Reporting from Washington -- The Obama administration agreed late Thursday to release dozens of photographs depicting alleged abuses at U.S. prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush White House.

The decision will make public for the first time photos obtained in military investigations at facilities other than the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. Forty-four photos that the American Civil Liberties Union was seeking in a court case, plus a "substantial number" of other images, will be released by May 28.

Why does he do these things?

"Our “transparent” President (and whatever aide he had take the fall for this secret mission) dug a hole and jumped in when he engineered this needless expense in a time of ceaseless financial crisis, and then ordered that it be kept secret from New York's officials. Now, with the refusal to let anyone see the photographs, he’s digging his own personal abyss even deeper.

If he thinks this is going to go away just because he ignores it, that abyss will become a chasm, not the memory hole he's hoping to stick it in. “Stuck on stupid” comes to mind…this is not a man who easily admits his mistakes. But he is about to find out that the heat in the kitchen gets all the greater when he obfuscates.

Whatcha wanna bet that the plane was full of campaign contributors getting a pay-off ride? Can we get a flight manifest under the FOIA, too? Because maybe the only pictures are those taken from the plane by big-time players who were promised a ride. Just a thought, since the White House is not telling us anything. Unfortunately, this administration doesn't seem to understand that the more you hide, the more people begin looking under the rocks for explanations.

If this is Obama's idea of transparent government, just imagine how he defines fiscal responsibility."

Of course they understand, why else was it such a pivotal platform issue for the Dems and virtually ignored by Reps in the last election? Oh yeah, explanations are for fruity liberal media watchdog types...real men lift rocks to throw them, not to see what's beneath em.

I have none but why is he not releasing the picture? And what happened to responsibility the "buck stops here" mentality.

For argument sake that is techincally irrelevant since the actions of an admin's people fall on the shoulders of the President regardless even if he was (as is almost certainly the case) had no clue about what was being planned. It's just the way it is and has been for ages. That said though considering the entire thing was paid for by tax payers they are obligated to release them but its really so unimportant.

This is a ginormously important topic, as I see it, obama not releasing these photos will be the defining point of his presidency.

That sorta of misses the point that Obama admin is too worried about its image then it is in you know following laws/regulations....hence tonight the admin announced the photos would be released after some people ed. This is Bush type stuff, stonewalling for no good reason other then for appearance sakes, I thought we voted for CHANGE.

The article wasn't really clear, what were the photos even of? and adressing your point, what I was trying to say is that this matter is trivial at best and to nitpick at this sort of thing is in bad form IMHO. And I wouldnt compare this to bush tactics in any way. It would be more Bush like if they with-held the picture, and then didn't talk about it AGAIN.
(BTW- Why did you capotolize the last word, was the only one you really wanted me to see?)

Yeah, scaring NYC into thinking another 9/11 is happening is trivial. Or threatening citizens that he'll have the press corps drag them through the mud if they don't get on board his plans.

everyone knows that the pictures will be used by the government to fake a new terrorist attack, then internet conspiracy theorists can't find the pics on google and scream "FAKES!!!"
