    Default Can't even start!

Hi, I've been playing this wonderful mod for a week now but since yesterday, everytime I open TA (through the third age shortcut which links to the batch file of course), it goes to the first loading screen (the one where you see the siege of minas tirith from an aerial view), loads abit (you see the ring rotating on itself). Then after a few seconds, it crashes and a window saying "Medieval 2
Medieval 2:Total War encountered an unspecified eror and will now exit.

I uninstalled everything then reinstalled, even deleted the folders a few times but nothing does it.
Everytime I open TA it crashes at the same moment, the same error.
    Please help me!

R U using XP or Vista?
I know from previous experience with SS, that Vista can cause problems, something to do with turning of the UAC. It is a shot in the dark.
    How about your drivers?

am running mine on Vista with the UAC off and it seems fine...

I did have a few problems at the start which were fixed by downloading the mod again and reinstalling from scratch.

Have you tried reinstalling Kingdoms as well?

I'm using Vista, I did tried turning the UAC off one time (two months ago) but when I restarted my computer they said my windows copy was illegitimate . So I had to find my god damn serial number to use my computer again. Now it's on.
As for the drivers I always had trouble since I installed my Nvidia 9600 gt one year ago. For example, some programs provided with the video card or some games (such as Oblivion or Fallout 3) were malfunctioning with some drivers (I have to uninstall the updated drivers everytime I restart my pc and install the 170-178 drivers). However Medieval 2 always worked with any of my drivers. Maybe theres a problem with TA
    I'll try this.

The UAC is when Vista asks you every time you want to install or modify anything. Gets a bit tedious and stops you modifying anything if you don't have the right permissions.

takes about 5 seconds to disable, if it does get on your tits just type 'disable vista UAC' into google and you will be shown how to disable it.

Ok, I tried changing drivers but nothing does it. I came to the conclusion that there was probably a corruption of a file in the Third Age folder.
I'll try to erase every single files related to TA then reinstall. Are there any other files or folders other than Program files/Sega/medieval 2/mods/Third Age ?

    Mike TW,
No I do not believe so, I have seen it said that this mod should not effect vanilla, so therefore you should be fine to remove and re-install. However I would defrag, clean up and registry clean, before you re-install.Is your UAC on or off now?

I mean Vanilla MTW2, this mod is placed in mods folder, so vanilla unaffected

But this glitch, bug whatever you want to call it is very common in vanilla medieval and obviously TA:TW can't run if vanilla can't run.

    (I'm sure. )

1-I know, but I asked if there were any other files outside of the mod directory because I uninstalled it a few times and it's still crashing (and I was able to run it one week ago). My UAC is on.
2-Yeh, I was playing stainless steel yesterday and just tried "vanilla" to see and all is fine

    Mike TW,
I noticed in another thread, that you have installed the Mith Mod, r u quite sure that is has installed itself in the right place?

I really do think that you need to the turn the UAC off, at some point it may give you probs with SS, sadly I have seen too many threads in SS over the last year on this one. I attach a thread on the UAC:

Make sure you use CCleaner or similar to clean out your registry after you uninstall. That's what was keeping me from being able to install properly, I think.
