It is always with great joy, that we welcome new contributors to our community.
Therefore, we are delighted that through Starlightman, who is the co-leader of our team, to have been introduced to Mr. Nicholas Panos.
It is both gratifying and fulfilling that we realize that our research efforts have yielded more accurate results to TWC modding.
We have received many positive comments from appreciative fellow history enthusiasts who have encouraged us in this pursuit, therefore, the addition of Mr. Panos can elevate us to an even greater success in this capacity.
Nicholas A. Panos, is an illustrator and designer since 1981 and works as an international free-lance artist, primarily in Europe and the U.S.A., undertaking various projects in a vast array of different specialties. These mediums include commercial and editorial illustrations, development of cartoon heroes, comics, story-boards, animatics, company logos, packaging and promotion of products, etc. In addition, he has been commissioned by a great number of advertising agencies, publishing houses and film companies producing advertising spots.
However, since 1997, his field of concentration has expanded to illustrating historical and military subjects (primarily costume and uniforms), ranging from antiquity to the present. His interest in this field dates back to the mid-’70s.
During his military service (1984-1986) in the Hellenic (Greek) Navy, he undertook the designing and the illustration of the current official Dress Regulations Manual of the Hellenic Navy (the uniforms and insignia, are still presented in the web page of the Ministry of Defence www.mod.gr) which superseded the 1965 Royal Hellenic Navy Manual.
This project has enabled him to acquire immediate access to old records and documents — access which he still has, since he is a member of the Maritime Museum of Greece — and which he has further expanded to include the National Historical Museum of Athens, the Military Museum of Athens and Salonica, and Aviation Museums’ archives.
The experience he has thus acquired — in conjunction with his predilection for historical and military subjects — has being applied to the designing of magazine covers, maps, insignia and pictorial representation of various uniforms and insignia, costuming for films and museum exhibits (which includes the necessary research and the writing of their description and/or relative articles). Finally, his research and illustrations of the shield symbols & emblems (also his Ph.D. thesis) of ancient Greek warriors have been used internationally as a resource by historical miniatures manufacturing companies, periodicals, books, educational websites, etc.
