Thank God in heaven, finally some common sense.

China is currently rounding up all Mexican citizens within it's borders, over ONE FREAKING CASE of the swine flu. Complete violation of human rights, for no other reason than rampant paranoia.

It's not even that serious of a disease. It's just the same old influenza we've been dealing with, except it has a slightly higher rate of infectivity.

Yeah I wonder if bacon sales back in the states were affected by all this.

They were initially quite affected if I remember correctly. I saw an article from CNN, but I cba to dig it back up. Something about 'farmers striking back'

Whats this? Our media over-hyped something? I just won't believe it.

It takes some real skill to turn something that is no more dangerous then the common flu and make it seem like millions of people are going to die. Either that or a bunch of really, really stupid people. For the US I'm going to have to go with the latter.

Considering two schools were closed in my city over swine flu... I say BOOOO!

Now American teachers are no great intellects, especially at the public school level, but I'm hoping that the closers were due to more appeasing the worried parents than general stupidity.

    I'm hoping....really I am.

Didn't Obama say that schools should be closed for a single case or did I just imagine that idiocy?

Kinda of a "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

If Obama did nothing and people died, then he would have been seen as idiot who caused the death of our children. Since Obama called for the closing of schools, now he appears to be a fool who over-hyped the disease.

I don't like the guy, but we all have been in a situation where if we don't do something we get ****ed over royally.

I'm a doctor, he over hyped it, I said from day one here it was being over hyped before his press conference. Presidents need to lead not play CYA.

To be reasonable, china and human rights have never really gone together.

It was serious enough for Mexico City to stop almost all of its economy, sounds like it was serious enough for a few school closings to prevent sardine-crammed students from passing the illness around like so many pieces of bubblegum.
