    Default Just for fun...

    Since I am passing my time with BC while waiting for BC1.5, I did some experimental things with the animation.

    Ever noticed swordsmen and spearmen just hopelessly bashing their foes with their shields to no avail? And you have to wait for eons before your elite swordsmen slay their lesser counterparts?

    Well, I've copied the animations folder from the latest Stainless Steel to the BC data folder.....and it works!!
    Gone are the useless shield-bashes and now infantries attack each other much more viciously than before!!

    Give it a try if you are bored waiting for BC1.5. But be warned, battles will be shorter and more lopsided.

    Thats not quite possible...BC 1.0 includes BC animations which are in use only in BC. If you just dumped the SS files over the BC files, it would not work...you would either make no impact, because game needs to see some files missing first, before recompiling, OR you would have CTD, because game would look for our animations and if couldn't find them it would CTD....unless the SS has the exact same animation names as I have, which is probably not the case.

    well shield bashing is a horrible animation but it makes battles longer like they are suppose to be. it would be nice to see some 3 part combos of shield bashing.

    Yeh, I thought it may not work initially but it did.

    I do have kingdoms but I don't play BC kingdoms. I just dumped SS files into the animations folder under BC data folder, and some files were overwritten.

    When I relaunched BC, all animations were SS ones. Shield bash removed, 2H axe becomes more like 2H sword, and another thing I've noticed is that units no longer spread out after coming into contact with the enemy. They don't shuffle and spread out, they sort of just stay put. I have no idea how is this altered by changing the animation, but just something that I observed. It does severely affects unit balance though, 2H axe units become too overpowered, and swordsmen will tear through several units of spearmen....etc.

    you delete BC animations files that way.

    Yeah, that's the whole idea.
    I love to zoom close and watch my soldiers fight, and it kind of annoys me to see opposing soldiers bashing each other with their shields which does......nothing.

    The only important animation that I know off is something exclusive to the elephants. I'm not sure if new 'bow draw' animation will be implemented for 1.5 ... as for shield bashing and other crap animations I recall they will be deleted, too.

    I have already explained that this will have no impact, as we have several BC specific animations. In matter of fact, if you do it right it will CTD the game.

    I am assuming he overwrote the animations in BC folder, but not those in the MTW2 folder...so hes experiencing the same thing, really.
