Default Shorten the time period for histrical reasons

Hi! I was wondering if starting the game in 1080 AD is such a good idea (or ending it in the 15th/16th).
Since there is a limited unit rooster and limited factions, it will be hard to depict so many centuries with these limited resources. Wouldt it be better to restrict the time frame, so
    a) You dont have 11th century units fighting 15th century units and
    b) avoid the "elite paradoxon": In Tw generally you start with few and very poor units and get better units wich represent also a chronological progress. But in fact at the starting date, 1080, there where already a variety of units, elite units and heavier armor.
SO why dont you limit the period from 12th to late 14th or early 15th century and make it 4ypt

With all the research done to represent the world at 1080 AD, I really doubt they would even consider moving the start date one century forward. I think it's a pretty good suggestion though - this could defiantly help reduce the amout of work. If anything they should start the mod slightly earlier - Maybe at 1069 AD to allow the last struggle for england when Svend Estridsen invaded and took possession of York? Then end the mod near the end of the 14th century. I'm not that the exited about the late full plated units, so I wouldn't mind leaving them out.

The starting date is good in my opinion. I am sure that the team considered all pros and cons of the dates they chose.

At this point we're not changing the starting date. Denmark was still a threat to England by the time the mod begins, so you can still have your fun invading England as Denmark.

I do agree with these points, but I personally think that the early 16th century was a very interesting time in history - in some ways the climax of the Middle Ages.

Well ok the starting date is fixed. I just thought that shorten the time period would make the dvpt easier, plus I really dont like the "elite paradox".

No XVc would mean no Hussites and its revolution to the medieval warfare. I doubt it would be missed in DotS, as Bohemia is pretty important to this project.

ZiegenPeter, I wouldn't assume that DotS will suffer from the "elite paradox" as you describe it, because they appear to have entirely reworked both recruitment and the chronological development of technologies.

Many of us never really played much in the late campaign. That's when M2 becomes a little dull.
