It could work, but it would be a chore making all the necessary changes. RTW supports two names...a 'first' name', and a 'surname'. In order to have three names, the naming structure must be redone so that either the first or surname is actually two names in one.

If you do this I suggest you take a copy of the files before you start to modify them. Better to be on the safe side.....

Yeah for sure make a copy of any file you plan on changing. Also as stated above it is a hole lot of work to do it and do it right, if you plan to. Good Luck!

require advise or opinion, I manage to include roman cognomen names in the game, it works fine...only problem is i can't add acillaries or traits to the recruited general when using console command/cheat codes..it tells me can't find character... why la??

The files you used probably only changed the cosmetic appearance of the in-game names, not the actual names themselves. You'd have to manually change each name to the one that is being represented in game or find out what the cosmetic name is linked to and type that into your console cheat instead of the cosmetic name. If you don't understand, I can explain in more detail.

Not necessarily. If you will look at 'names.txt' in the 'data\text' folder you will see that there are two columns of names....one column in {} and then the next column is not.

The first column in the {} is the name the game LOOKS for....the second column with no brackets is the name the game DISPLAYS in the text of the Campaign. The easiest way to change the names is to just change them in that second column. So for example:

    {Augustulus} Augustulus

The game will display this name as 'Augustulus'. But this:

    {Augustulus} Mickey Mouse

Will display in the game as 'Mickey Mouse'.

So theoretically, the combination of these two Roman first names and surnames:

    {Augustus} Augustus
    {Calpurnius} Calpurnius

    Could be made to read:

    {Augustus} Augustus
    {Calpurnius} Calpurnius Africanus

    Or:

    {Calpurnius} Calpurnius Pontius

    Or:

    {Calpurnius} Calpurnius Belgacum

    Or whatever you like.

But I would like to add that when using ingame cheats for characters, the name you have to type in is the first set ((( {Calpurnius} Calpurnius Belgacum ))) even though in-game, it shows ((( {Calpurnius} Calpurnius Belgacum )))

oka another question, do i jus need to copy/paste the entire portion of roman cognomen names in desc_names,names.txt and name_lookup.txt from RTR over to RS.will it work tis time even when i use console command to add acillaries/trait it will not tell me can't find character. Cos the last time i only copy the section show 2names and not all roman names over. is tis why it cant find charcater cos some names are missing??

You cannot copy and paste RTR names in as you say without adding them to ALL the related files. I have given you the easiest way to change the names, but if you want to go to the extent you're talking about, you'd best look here for the related tutorials on changing character names, or at the ORG.....because it gets VERY complicated beyond what I posted above.

I think there is a good point being made here about Roman names. It would appear that I have rather 'butchered' the real conventions for this in RS2....so I'll have to fix that. (SIGH)
