Default Silvan Elves leave Middle Earth...

I'll post this "problem" here, although i'm not sure at all if it's a bug. At least is pretty strange.

I'm playing high elves, turn 67 and suddenly I recieve a destroyed faction message. Silvan elves have been destroyed in just one turn. Although in turn 66 they had all their initial towns and cities and they were plenty of armies.

No enemy faction was sieging none of their settlements and they didn't seem to have any kind of rioting problem so I wonder why this has happened.

Sorry if this has been questioned or answered before but I couldn't find nothing similiar in the forum.

    Thanks!

That's weird. Did you use toggle_fow?
Maybe all their generals died? Then the faction turns rebel.

No, I didn't use it, but I'll load the last saved and I'll take a look at it.

Another interesting point is that around 20 turns before or so, I'm not sure at all, they started to leave all their captured settlements which took in the first turns of game, like Beorn Halls and all the others surrounding their initial positions...

Their faction leader probably died without an heir.

yes, the problem is that the Silvan elves have a pretty small family tree, therefore they are always in danger to get destroyed suddenly.

If anyone has a suggestion how their family tree could be made bigger (even with fictional characters), please let me know...

Well just adopt like crazy and marry off everybody. My Gondorian Family Tree multiplied like rabbits! Seriously! 70 turns in I have a 80+ family tree. Ridiculous.
In fact, for some factions (if possible) you should limit the number of adoptions possible and limit the number of children one can have/adopt. I changed mine to two per person. But I'm thinking of changing it to one child per person because I still have more than enough people to worry about.

Yeah, it seems to be the problem, I used the toggle_fow and they had just two family members and a general, all of them over 60 years old. They seem to have died all at once, in the same turn, as there were no enemy armies near them.

    idea 1.
....maybe the silvan elves could "discover" some wild brethren living in wild remote forests (ala DL kagonesti elves) that they could link up with.

    idea2.
unless invading(evil) armies erect culture and public happiness buildings asap near heavily wooded areas they will fall into rebellion and end up as silvan settlements.
or make silvan settlements damn hard to conquer ie invading orcs have movement penalties, longer siege times, allies more willing to come and help out etc.

    idea3.
see if you can tie in the high elves to the family tree as some off shoot branch or 'cousins' allowing high elf brides to be presented and maybe even elf lords seeking to be a part of silvan rather than elronds bunch (essentially all elves are related and only seperate due to class issues or family feuds, at least this is true in DL amongst the Kagonesti, silvanesti, qualinesti etc) although i dont know how well received this will be from a tolkien realism viewpoint

    idea4.
mod the stats and tribute's to give the females higher fertility etc and the males well you get the idea....

obvioulsy each idea needs much more in depth consideration but............plant the seed..

EDIT: Playing high elf i did all i could to help out my silvan cousins but had to watch them fall to the dastardly OoTMM by around turn 80'ish, a little financial aid helped them past the initial onslaught but they were soon cornered and butchered.... a sad day for all the eldar.....

You could make Thranduil and Legolas 'very productive', so they will have children in no time.

My english isn't very well. So sorry when its hard to read this. =)

Isn't it possible to make the Elves immortal? So that they could only die in a battle as it is in the books?

A friend tell me that Elrond has died because he was too old.^^ I think that's strange.^^

If we increase average life span it affects on every faction including Men and Dwarves.

What about increasing the average life span but then having traits that decrease it for men and dwarves? But it still leaves the issue of how do you stop elven family members from getting those traits latter on.

Good idea. Could yall make it so there is a trait passed on only through being in a city that has high non elvish culture that makes a family member have a death earlier?

Also, I think it would be ok for Dwarves to be immortal here, because the game is only a certain amount of time, and Dwarves have very high life spans.

Already suggested but we are not sure does it work.

Average dwarf lived for 250 years.

What has happened to the idea of scripted deaths different for every culture?

We are not sure has anybody tested it in practise.

how do you get more family members for Mordor and Isengard?

What about triggering the death event, always at the same age for those factions?
As it's a random event, it might turn to be a static one.
But maybe you must do it for every faction, no way to choose a group of them...?

In order to solve the silvan elves problem, I think it could be better to increase the number of family members at game start, although it won't be "historically" accurate. Making all the female characters more fertile and solutions of that kind would generate a huge family tree and a horde-family in a few years. That's much worse than having a few more "invented" members in the begining.

Is there a way to create a trait called "Elven" or something, that would prolong life past the average?

Increasing the average isn't so bad either, really it would only be unrealistic for the men of Dale, since the Gondorians lived a lot longer than most men, and we don't know a lot about the lifespans of orcs, but since they were originally bred from corrupted elves, it is probable that they lived for quite a while.

it would also be unrealistic for rohan and easterlings.
and orcs were bred form men
