Default Offices and Ranks for Romans

I was wondering how I can get my Generals in different offices and how they get elected to them.

My 20 year old general was a Tribune Milit and I assumed that I had to make him leave Rome to fight under a higher level general. Well I had no higher level general so I kept him outside of Rome with a unit intill he was 30. After he became 31 nothing happened he wasnt elected to anything new or different. I was expecting a legatus rank but I guess that rank inst in EB. So as I went on with the turns my other leader who is 33 and has not left a city yet got elected Quesetar.

So now Im confused on what ranks go with what. Is a quesetar a governer rank or both general and governer. Are my leader randomnly elected? Whats the best way to make them a praetor.

you need influence and management to get to praetor. i think you need 2 manage at least and like...1 or 2 command. influence just helps you get to the high offices.

questor is a governors rank. its like an accountant i guess. and your leaders are randomly elected depending on their influence and whatever conditions may be on that office. for example. my 8 command(yeah i know crazy) and 10 influence general has 0 manage and still hasnt become a praetor or a consul yet. which is stupid because he is by far my most treasured family member. i conquered gaul and iberia with him and hes in his 50's now. lucius cornelius sulla. i like that name as well <3

yeah, the roman leadership system isnt very good in EB tbh. it seems too random

If you know of a better way to do it within the RTW engine I am sure they would be interested.

IMO, the EB system for cvrsvs honorvm is a good idea, but it's hard to keep track of when your FMs will be promoted and you don't get to choose the ranks for them. The only thing you can do to help them to gain ranks is to have them study in an academy while they're still young (up to 20) so they pick useful traits and ancilliaries. It's also bery hard for plebeians to be ellected (and thus be considered nobilitas).

I released a minimod for EB that uses Marcus Camillus' system (the one in ExRM), which uses a Military Service - x years trait. It's in the Unofficial Modding Projects subforum under the name "Roman Leadership minimod for EB 1.2" if you want to check it out.

no i do not know how to do it better, i know basic modding but i cant mod indepth. the roman leadership system used in RTR is very good but it requires some knowledge of how it works so you can fully utilise it. the EB system is much simpler but not as good IMHO.

Cool, I'll check that out. I'm always interested in how others adapted and improve my original leadership system. After a period of not modding or playing RTW, I'm planning on returning once I finish my new gaming PC I'm building. I never completed a leadership system covering the other factions, and would be interested in the ideas of others.
