    Ok. First, I don't really know if this is even possible (hardcoded maybe or something), but it would be REALLY cool if all the settlements would be reworked to look like the real settlements of Middle earth. (And I am not talking about campaign map here.) I know it sounds crazy and even impossible. But I just hate to see for example Caras Galadhon as a simple medieval city. I guess this thread is useless, but I just wanted to ask people here, if they would wait for 2 years to get it done.

    Would be great but their are more important things to do and it is almost impossible I believe their hasn't been edited a single building in Kingdoms yet. Only in MTWII itself.

    Edited and custom buildings for Kingdoms have not and likely will never happen. Sadly.

    Even if it were going to happen though, I would not wait two years for it, changing the voices with custom voice acting so that the Haradrim don't start praising Allah after a victory and the like would be immersion enough for me.

    Already done. Not custom acting but all Allah or sultan related words are now gone.

    I'd wait 2 years, sure. I think the mod team can keep updating and improving the mod in the meanwhile. As far as I know you can already change the textures of the battlemap settlements, so they could start by just giving some factions different building textures and such (especially the orc races). In fact, it might be doable for the next update.

    Even simple "darker" textures with additional details would make the mordor cities look much more impressive without needing to rebuild everything.

    I'd be willing to wait two years, but only if the mod team updated a good deal in the meantime.

    If anyone is familiar with Roma Surrectum then they may also be annoyed with the fact that Roma Surrectum 1.5 has been out for around two years while the team makes Roma Surrectum 2.0 and in the meantime the Greek factions were left so vanilla-ish and generic compared to the Romans that they are basically unplayable.

    Simply retexturing existing buildings would be immersion enough for me.

    Great idea and the way to do it!!! Many vanilla textures could be used with simple color and shading changes, as using blacks and grays for Morodrian buildings for example.

    Waiting that long would be waste of time both for mod fans and for modders. Just look at the bugs section ... some of the things show up only in open release. Now, we got a lot of submods running and a lot of people willing to push the mod forward. Don't repeat the mistake made by BC devs, pushing the patch 1.5 for almost a year to completion.

    Retextures should do just fine to make it seem like a settlement or castle really belongs to a faction.

    Perhaps reskinned aztec buildings could be good for the elves? a lot of stonework could be made to look like wood.

    Gondor cities could be a mix of black and white. Rohan's walls could be retextured to look like wood when its a normal stone wall. Only the strongest walls could look like they are completely of stone for rohan, and these could look like the ones from helm's deep.

    Black walls and black metal gates would be good for isengard and Mordor.

    The elves would probably be the biggest challenge since their buildings would need to look quite beautifull and detailed. Maybe some plants with flowers could be put against the walls.
