Emerging from the woods on a foggy spring morning, the 16th and 2nd Infantry march onto the field of battle just east of Paris, ready to take revenge on the Spanish forces who liberated the city at the cost of lives of British soldiers just a few weeks prior.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

They are joined by General Tory, a Parisian by birth, but of English noble line and education. His army arrays itself in a line stretching more than a mile wide.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Harassed by Spanish artillery firing into the mists, the Red Line marches forward, undaunted, into the teeth of the deranged king's army. They will take not one step backwards, either emerging on top of Spanish dead, or buried in that shallow valley.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

British guns fire as one, and all down the line, the Spanish lines falter. The Spanish troops are inexperienced and outnumbered, facing vastly superior numbers and battle-hardened veterans of the Louisiana Campaign. The resistance to the Queen's rule is short-lived, and the Spanish are driven from the field in shameful retreat.

    gotta love the arty, hehe

hey e1, has anyone noticed any particular faction that has a better BAI than the other?
IMHO my battles with Spain have shown an improved BAI versus Poland in particular. I have seen Spain march an entire line to my line, touching and not freaking out, and fire more than one volley before rushing my line. Whereas the Polish charged the whole way (touching and not freaking out), yet never firing a shot. Was wondering if anyone could look into it, and then someone a whole lot smarter than me can see what is diff. about them in thier stats...or wherever you look . lol of course being the noob I am, I didnt save the battle for the entire spanish line movement, but I do have them holding thier line, while engaging mine. Cheers ev1.

this doesnt happen for me....atleast not all the time...could terrian, fences, walls etc hamper that? i assume it would in real life so maybe.

    custom battle: exhibit A....

now this could very well be from the fact that i had light infantry out in front to harass the main line as it advnced. Th Spanish charged them after firing once and then stopped to fire a few volleys at the flanks of my main line, but the center kept charging straight at mine. the above image is of that moment

doesnt really matter because the Spanish crushed me, i had battle difficulty on hard. campaign is slightly better than this though.

Yeah, there is about as much done as possible for the BAI -- most work relied on the CA actually patching it.

There could be a lot of things that come into play; your movement, the army composition, and other factors. Sometimes the BAI performs pretty well, other times the same old issues are present.

I almost always get decent results and I attribute this to the campaign battle maps with varied terrain coupled with my active movement of armies aginast the AI.

I have RARELY had good results with just standing still while fighting the AI on grassland. I have had some great results as well, though, lol!

just one screen, not great quality, yet a cool image.

I just wish Empire had the same option as Medieval II to have all the UI stuff on mouseover setting. the UI in Empire and Nappy is definitely a DOWNgrade fro Medieval II
