Something about that doesn't seem right. Did you modify the income or something?

No, I lost most of the Europe regions in the first decade. I Kept Istanbul . I only got those regions back in the 1740-50's . Most of the fighting was with Persia, and then the Mughals . I kept peace with Austria so that I could fight the other front. [Hard Campaign- Normal Battle- Hard TI prefs.]

I gave Georgia money to become a protectorate and then gave them regions when the resistance died down to zero (within the house rules)

I spend a lot on state gifts to keep peace, and play conservatively

The money finally came when I got a couple of fleets on the ivory and spices, and big fleets to protect them.
Also I follow Alpaca's advice that keeping Upper class tax low is the best way. This builds Town wealth growth and that may be why my income is healthy in 1754. Both taxes are set to lowest.

It was the battle for Dublin , Great Britain vs Ireland. Like always it wasn't possible to play in the city itself but in a smaller town near the real city. Pictures of the smaller town/'suburb'.

The key to the game is economy, and the key to economy is resources + trade + time. Once you're making >50k per turn, suddenly everything is developed and the only thing you have left to spend $$ on is war... aka armies and navies. Dutch have a serious advantage imo in that they can recruit pretty awesome trade ships from day 1. This makes snaging un-pirated trade posts in all 4 theaters pretty easy. Next on the list is acquiring enough trading ports to open trade with *everyone*. By everyone, i mean litterally everyone. Ergo, Paris must fall (lots of trading ports)

Spain pissed me off by raiding one of my workshops in the South of France. They have lots of trading ports too. And unfortunately, my objectives dictate that i attack Maratha. In so doing, i lost a whopping 20k per turn in trade.... not a big deal when you've got 460k in the bank. Moreover, that 20k is ALL the Maratha's had where i have over 100k in trade per turn. Thus, 4 years later (1725):

Needless to say, at this point its simply about conquest. With the massive wheels of my economy driving hard and fast, i can basically buy any country i want. This is typically the point where i say 'I've already won,' and start a new campaigne... just thought i'd offer some economical tips where i could:
build 10-ship trading fleets for all 4 theaters ASAP. in your home region, defense aside, your main concern should be the developement/aqusition of high-volume ports. Outside of your home theater, counquer based on resources. Those pesky islands in the bahamas and the french territory in the far south produce income-generating resources. Europe does not. Unless you're conquering for defensive purposes or to aquire a(n) (other) port, if you're struggeling finacially (aka EVERYTHING isn't developed to the max your tech will allow) focus on resource aqusition.

For inquiring minds, its 1725, as Dutch. $$460,000 in the bank, make roughly 100k per turn. First run @ APE:TI on (normal/normal)

France is really making a stand for Savoy, their last territory;

It was all I could do to protect the guns and get the cavalry out to tie up the AI long enough to set up a defense;

Alas, my only option was to take as many of them with me as I could. My infantry battalion (1st Division, 2nd Brigade, 5th battalion) consisted of 1600 line infantry with 1 artillery battery and 1 cavalry troop -- we were outnumbered 3 to 1.

You can see I've killed two of their generals and even that morale penalty didn't stop them from marching on us;

I call it "oops, maybe I don't belong here."

Turn after sacking their capital. They declared war on me, I sunk an army of theirs on some boats near the homeland, then returned the favor.

But I wanted to do something about the Maratha rampage. This should slow them down while I fortify my holdings in Europe.
