Installation Error - Binkw32 (Vista)

Hello guys,
So i first installed Medieval 2 total war on my PC and everything worked fine as i remember. Then for some reason i deleted it off my PC but when i heard about the Lord of the rings Mod for it had been released i went to install it along with kingdoms once again but this time i get the Binkw32 error and i cant install Medieval 2 total war does anyone know a fix for this? or is it just the disk thats bugged?

Use the search function at the top and type in binkw32, you'll get some idea of what could cause it.

Main things are bad install discs, another copy on your harddrive, directx9 and .Net not up to date. Pick one and the process of elimination.

IT WORKED!!!

Just finished installing Medieval 2 + Kingdoms. I think it was my .NET was out of date upgraded to 3.5 and worked like a charm . Thank you for your help i was just getting ready to go to the store to buy a new copy aswell . Well now at least i can finally play the lord of the rings mod and i wish i had found this forum earlier to very helpful indeed.
