Cant install kingdoms anymore

I try to reinstall it and after I get the 1.2 patch I restart my computer. Then I try then download the 1.3 patch but then after a pop-up says I am missing pack 0! What gives!?? Is their a way to ever play this again?

Maybe.

Between the old install and this install, what hardwarehave you changed and what software programs have you installed? It could be a copy protection issue.

Nothing really. Just same old stuff. I have new updates from my computer protection, avast!

Could just be a bad download. It seems to be the bane of updating this game. Try downloading it again.

Its occured before. Its an on off thing. Could it be from modding my M2 descr_strat. If pending, i'll let you know what I did. the only things I changed from vanilla was that all ulockable factions are unlocked, and the end date is 2012 of winter now...

You change one character in one file and you can't update. The installer is made to look at time/date stamps of certain files like medieval2.exe or the descr_strat.txt and if they don't match, you don't update.

Then you're back to a total uninstall and reinstall routine.

Tip one: ALWAYS make a back up of the files you work with
Tip two: install M2TW into a separate folder: I am using C:\Games\M2TW (literally), saves a lot of hassle especially with Vista
Tip three: unpack into a separate folder as well, here is the line for the unpacker bat file:
unpacker.exe --source=..\..\packs\*.pack --destination=C:\extract\ --verbosity=1
