Sorry for not updating this at all, but I have had no motivation to do so, I think alot of modders can feel me.

We cannot add any map features, and I don't want to just supplant regions in India for China is why I don't just make it.

If you examine my map, the Phillipines are divided up between New Spain and the Sulu-Maguindanao. Historically, the northern islands of the Phillippines were administered by the Spanish in Mexico City and although there were occasional revolts, the Spanish were relatively unchallenged internally. There is already a rebel force to challenge the Spanish in these regions though, so if the rebels succeed... A'la Phillippinos. I already have the naming categories for all the different ethnicities. Each one has about 50 male and female names (I didn't want to flood the name file).

Nice job shi. Only thing is I am currently concentrating on school/work and have been for a while. If map tools were released, I'd be back and kicking, but until then, all of my data and files are just dormant pieces of "junk."

I do want this mod to be realized. I do want all the graphics that everyone has been making to be put into use in the game. I just don't want to half ass the mod... It'd smear the grandeur of it all. I have thought about tearing the game apart and somehow being able to recreate a new one... But I find myself leaning to the fact that that might be illegal.

If SEGA/CA doesnt release mod tools for Empire TW then essentially you have 2 options:

1) Move the mod timeframe backwards, covering the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, and make it a mod for Medieval 2 TW

OR

2) Move the mod timeframe forwards, covering the end of the Qing Dynasty, and make it a mod for Napoleon TW and HOPE that CA has better mod support for Napoleon

Either way you do it, I wish you the best of luck

Remember that Vietnamese factions (Trinh, Nguyen) would have used Crossbows, not regular bows. The Trinh should have an elite crossbow unit as they seemed to use them more than the Nguyen. Also you should consider adding Montagnard/Degar/Highlander units for both Trinh and Nguyen, representing the Hill peoples still present and active in Vietnam. They should be stealthy and have good morale, and at 1700 some still used regular hunting bows.

Alright. I feel a need to give y'all a sitrep.

Here is what I have DONE:

-All the basic design: maps, units, leaders, factions, etc.
-1/3 of the 3d and 2d art.
-Over 500 family names and given names collected for the factions.
-Coding for the localization/db of each faction including rebels and emergent.
-Alpha startpos and mod.pack and localization.pack with the Qing Dynasty owning the region of Kashmir and replacing the Punjab faction in 1700. (Royal family already defined with pictures and names.)

Here is what I have PROBLEMS with:
So I am working closely with Shi as we both build the mods up. His graphic designs are amazing, and I have translated all the Chinese to English and revamped his mod to work... However, because his game is 1.0 and mine is 1.5, his mod will constantly crash while loading. His mod.packs are breaking the game for me. This is why I decided to make an alpha free of his and everything works out great. I just can't get his graphics into the alpha because the mod containing the graphics is the cause of the crashes. I have tried hammering away at this problem for days and there has been no solution in sight. I just recently replied to him with my status and I hope he can present me a solution there.

In summary:
This is the result of not having a campaign map and so I have replaced the Punjab emergent faction with the Qing Empire with Kashmir as the starting capital region. (Historically, Kashmir was the furthest the Qing expanded their territory towards India. And the game is set in 1700 with Kangxi as Emperor. I have a headache.

The hard code isn't the problem. They have said which program they use and map gurus have said that even after they figure pathfinding, and splitting up regions and even making impassable regions passable it would be tooooo much work to add a whole new subcontinent.
