    Icon2 The Aggressive AI,economy and patch-64bit multi-core support

First let me start off by saying I know that some of you still have issues with the game. Many of these issues where caused by mods that you still had installed or did not uninstall correctly. I watched countless posts on my tax is now zero I'm bankrupt!

Countless others upset because they could not play their saved games. Oh I can understand that you now have to start all over again but you know what? Why would you not want to start a fresh campaign to enjoy all the benefits of the patch? Why would you continue on with an old campaign when you know that maybe you will get a CTD or something strange is going to happen. Its just better to start over because now your strategy will have to change.

This patch did wonders for the game. Sure they did not fix everything but they made the game a heck of a lot smoother in campaign and battle. I could tell from the start how much better the game now runs.

    The AI being over aggressive?

I tend to don't see this maybe I just play differently than you. I am still waiting for the aggressive AI,have not seen this yet on VH/VH

Them dang Indians are way to aggressive

Indians where aggressive they where fighting for their lands. You should have a serious time defeating them if you want their lands. If you expect to just walk right in and take them out then you should not be messing with them. Indians where aggressive!

I cant build or support troops because my income is so low.

Hmm I have no issues with income and have fought many battles. I still have plenty of money coming in. So maybe my strategy is different than yours. This is not suppose to be a game where you mass a huge amount of troops to over-run the AI every time. How boring would that be? Your suppose to manage your money not have enough money to go on a shopping spree like Brittany Spears. If you like to cheat with money then find a cheat. For most of us we want a challenge. That is why I bought the game.

The game is suppose to be just fun not so much realism?

ETW would be seriously boring if all you did was mass a huge amount of troops and line them up then charge to battle. That is why I find multiplayer extremely boring. ETW should be a game where you have to balance finances, diplomacy, construction, religion and so on not just fighting all of the time. You want a game like this choose Dawn Of War,Red Alert 3, Starcraft and numerous others where you don't need any brains to play.

Damn CA why dont they just fix the game so I can play!

Something fishy with this comment. The game has been on the top sales charts for numerous weeks and thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people own the game now. A very small percentage of people cannot get the game to run on Windows XP, Vista because they lack the knowledge in locating the issue and resolving it. If it runs on my system dammit then it should run on yours as long as you have the required hardware.

Come on now it runs on many systems just like yours now why in the heck will it not run on yours? It must be the game right so let us know how you will never buy another CA title. We aint buying this crap! We who are hardcore computer techies no better.

People try to run the game on systems that just cannot handle the power needed to run this game. I can tell you all that the game runs just fine on both of these operating systems with no issues.

I can tell you that the game ran poorly on a system with just the minimal specifications. So poorly that it was in danger of a CTD and not even launching. So if you trying to run it at the bare minimal then expect issues.

Like every game there will always be people who don't want to worry about all the things that needed to be done to make a war in the 17th and 18th century successful. they just want to hack something up and that's all.

ETW is not the greatest game! I think it has the potential if they focus more on the economy, diplomacy, religion and add numerous other items to the game. Simulation is the key word! For those of you who do not want realism then maybe their would be an option to play without all the features.

If I was making ETW 2 I would surely add more depth to the game for all the hard core TW'ers. Add an option for the tweets who don't want to experience the full depth of the game and just send them onto the kiddie play area.

For me the economy is just fine now, The AI still is not as aggressive as it needs to be as I am playing on VH/VH. adding more features for example Civ4 would be awesome. Even know I did not like Civ 4 due to no real time battles. But the depth of the campaign map was sweet.

The patch has changed the way the game runs but still I lack to see the real AI changes. I think many people where really surprised in the first few turns but after that the AI seems to go back to its normal self. They still tend to run for the flags on forts, They still make stupid moves, They still stand around looking at each other wondering what to do next.

Bottom line is the patch was great for performance and bug fixes but still the AI in the game is one of the worst I have ever seen in any RTS. Can it really be that difficult to make the AI respond better?

Attacking any AI fort is just plain boring ! The peeps screaming about the aggressive AI should enjoy this.

    The Lord has spoken!

Really? I didn't see anything in the patch release notes about performance fixes or multi-core support. Smoother? Are you sure?

Yes there is Multi-core support for 64 bit . I read it over at the official forums. Its workings. I think you still have to use the 3GB workaround for 32 bit systems.

Only use madboris's work around if you have a 32 bit system AND you run above the memory limit. 64 bit systems have been fixed as there is now multi-core support.

Because there may be people with an unfinished RTI lying around that has been started only for the sake of getting the stupid archievement?
Because there are hundreds of hours of playing wasted worldwide because people have been waiting for the patch to come out before continuing? Real-world time which is actually worth money?
I can see that that balancing changes would render some saved games unbalanced, but so what? Why would CA not let the player load it anyway?

There are only three possibilities after applying the patch and loading a saved game:
    - the state of the save could have been archieved with the patch: previously hours played are wasted
    - the state of the save makes it harder for the player after the patch: he'll find out and if it's too hard, start a new campaign - but at least he is not forced to
    - the state of the save favors the player after the patch, so he has it easier to finish the GC because he has troops that became more expensive or whatever. So??? Can't let him get that archievement too easy, can we?

Saved games have always been invalidated in the TW series after a patch, and I have never understood why. It's the stupidest thing with the series along with changing battle keyboard shortcuts with each new game.
But at least in the previous installments, I could just not install the patch... now it's forced on me with Steam (which I don't dislike, actually) without even being told that saves are invalidated - seriously, WTF?
